To think he should leaf blow somewhere else?

I'm sitting in a ten acre park waiting for an exercise class to start while drinking a coffee. I'm the only person sat in this park. There are some other people around but they're all moving through to somewhere else.

Is it unreasonable to think that the guy with the incredibly loud petrol power leaf blower should be blowing the leaves in another area first, rather than right beside my bench?

Leaf blower not lead blood!! Why can't we edit titles?

Yes.

WaryHiker · 10/11/2025 10:21

Maybe get Mumsnet to fix your title before the thread gets going!

TheDevilFindsWorkForIdleMums · 10/11/2025 10:20

Yes.

Why? The park is empty except for me and he has a total of at least half a mile of paths to clear.

Could you move?

BillieWiper · 10/11/2025 10:23

I thought you meant 'bleed blood', and someone had a severe trauma injury and you were annoyed their blood has splattered onto you or your clothes?! 🤣

GlassofRosePorfavor · 10/11/2025 10:23

I guess you need the exercise to burn off your excess crazy mental energy?

Imdunfer · 10/11/2025 10:24

GehenSieweiter · 10/11/2025 10:22

Could you move?

Why would he expect me to do that, I was here first and he arrived and started the process of clearing half a mile of paths right by my side?

Why don't you move instead of expecting the man working a tedious job to stop what he's doing for your convenience?

noidea69 · 10/11/2025 10:25

I mean he's just doing his job, what if someone was sat on all benches.

Your bench!?Shock
You are some random who happens to be sitting on some random bench. It's his place of work. Why should he re-organise his work schedule to suit you?

AgentPidge · 10/11/2025 10:26

Of course if he were reasonable, he would move away from you. But he has a job to do and his headphones on and the peace and quiet of some pesky member of the public isn't even on his radar.

I did move, of course. But it would not have inconvenienced him one iota to start on a path further away from me which is exactly the same distance for him from where he's parked his van.

Yabu

He's probably got a plan of how to do the work and this is his starting point.

If it bothers you that much, move.

And it didn't inconvenience you to move either. So what's the issue?

Luxio · 10/11/2025 10:27

I don't think he should move. He's presumably being paid to clear the whole park and that means at some point he will have to do the area you are in, whether he does it know or later it still needs doing. You can't possibly expect him to wait until each area is empty.

Imdunfer · 10/11/2025 10:28

He was literally blowing leaves under my feet!

SummerHouse · 10/11/2025 10:28

It would make sense for him to go elsewhere. He is annoying. But OP, you are in the park, you are doing an outdoor exercise class. This is fabulous! Enjoy!! And forgive this chap for being a tad annoying and thoughtless.

Is that true? You can't randomly blow leaves: you have to take account of where leaves fall, which way the wind is blowing, etc, etc.

ItIsNotTheDog · 10/11/2025 10:31

He is just doing his job

It would be different if even one more bench was occupied.

Well that was an anticlimax!

5128gap · 10/11/2025 10:33

Funny how different people view things. If I was sitting somewhere that someone needed to do some work on, my manners would motivate me to get out of their way. I think it says a lot about a person sense of self importance in relation to service workers if they think the worker should always give way.

well presumably he knows what he is doing, has a route and is doing a job.

pizzaHeart · 10/11/2025 10:34

I was so intrigued by your title OP a bit disappointed now.
I think he could have easily started elsewhere as you were the only one sitting there. He clearly did it deliberately, I would love to see him doing it if a gladiatory type guy was sitting on this bench.

Imdunfer · 10/11/2025 10:34

I wonder if someone in the Council is on Mumsnet 🤣. He just finished talking a phone call and come over and apologised!
