Kids with no respect

Honestly. I've been so ill with a stomach bug for the last 2 days and I was just starting to come round and feel human again when DS 5 had the absolute cheek to be sick at school. Honestly. Why can't kids just let you be ill in peace every now and then?! Now I have to adult until his dad comes home from work!

Respect?

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/10/2025 17:00

Oh dear

Tillow4ever · 10/10/2025 17:01

So you made your kid sick and now you want to complain that you need to parent that sick 5 year old? I’m sorry you’re ill, but suck it up - YABVVVU.

MrsFrumble · 10/10/2025 17:02

I admire your sense of humour under the circumstances OP. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

MamaGarl85 · 10/10/2025 17:02

Jeez people its a joke!

It’s clearly a joke.

You’d think it was obvious… 🤦🏼‍♀️

landlordhell · 10/10/2025 17:04

I used to dread that. You just knew it would be 2 weeks of hell as it passed around each child. Get well soon and do the bare min.

LoveWine123 · 10/10/2025 17:04

I’d take away all his treats as a punishment.

Tillow4ever · 10/10/2025 17:05

Most people joking in AIBU make that clear by saying lighthearted. I’ve read numerous posts these last few days about parents no longer wanting their kids, so if it doesn’t say lighthearted I’m assuming they’re serious.

Eye roll

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 10/10/2025 17:09

Oh you have my sympathy OP. I still remember, with flashbacks, when all five of mine simultaneously came down with a sick bug... Those were Grim Times.

Really?

EchoedSilence · 10/10/2025 17:12

I would have thought that people would be able to tell a thread is quite clearly a joke without a bloody lighthearted disclaimer.

YANBU OP, how very dare the darling sprog besmirch your convelescent period so inconsiderately!

I hope the bug buggers off quickly for you all.

ItsAMoooPoint · 10/10/2025 17:15

What a fun weekend you have ahead of you!

We're in a similar situation here at the moment, so I feel your pain. Although this is nothing compared to the time I had gastro, my husband was away for work and I had an exclusively breastfed baby to take care of. I remember feeding on the toilet!

ComfortFoodCafe · 10/10/2025 17:17

You know why? Because as a mother you can never just have anything to yourself. Grin

“You can’t have anything of your own in this house!” (Not even D&V)

My oft-repeated martyr-mum mantra. Hope you’re all on the mend soon OP.
