been talking to a guy from OLD for a couple weeks, not met up yet but have messaged alot and had a few phone calls (not video calls)

he sent me a selfie earlier of him at the gym....except he already sent me the same selfie a few days ago.

I asked is that from today, and he said yes. But it can't be!

it's really stupid thing to lie about, I hadn't asked for a picture, but it's just the needless lying. Why say it was from today when it wasn't? Just seems so bizarre?

shall I just discard? It's such early days I think that may be the way to go

I have zero tolerance for lies. "White lies" are lies all the same. You give an inch, they will take a mile.

Casual lying seems to be the norm these days. It would put me off him completely, but it appears I’m in the minority. If you’re not going to dump him over it, then at least call him on it and see how he responds to that. Either he’ll be really embarrassed and apologetic and promise to not do it again, or he’ll try to make out it’s not a big deal. It’s up to you if you think it’s a big deal or not, it definitely would be for me.

To be honest, the fact that it was a gym selfie would ick me anyway, but I know that’s a subjective thing.

Same everything. Same clothes. Same pose if its a picture of him. Same things in the picture. Same exercise/ equipment.

I wouldn’t like this at all, it screams of “I can’t remember who I’ve sent what to because I’m sending so many people so many pictures”. Sorry OP I’d knock this one on the head… after I’d screenshotted the original picture and sent it back to him!
