My daughter’s 5th birthday is coming up and she really wanted to take some cupcakes for her class but we’ve just been notified that the school policy no longer allows cake to be bought in. I was wondering if anyone can suggest anything else she could take In, I was thinking some story books as a favour.

I did fruit kebabs using cake pop sticks for my son’s class after cakes were not allowed.

If you go on Pinterest, there are plenty ideas for them.

I was planning on doing them again, but waiting for confirmation if it is allowed for his year group.

As an EYFS teacher - please no haribo! Only the strawberries are halal / veggie and we always end up with upset children not understanding why they can’t have the other sweets. I also teach in a very multi cultural school and there are never enough strawberries for all the children that need them.

Stickers are a good idea! Or the party bag style mini toys e.g. mini bubbles, balls etc. This doesn’t exclude any children due to their dietary needs.

Or they could put up and shut up.
