Crop tops for 2 year olds?

AIBU thinking that this is creepy?

Yes. It's just a crop top.

Childanddogmama · 31/08/2025 21:10

Can't really see why they are being made in this size. This age group need vests that will keep them warm- this isn't going to do that!

Clairesheep · 01/09/2025 21:19

Yes, my worry was that it is impractical but also sexualises children. I wore these when I was practising for wearing a bra going through puberty when I was 10 or something. Not 2!

Or to keep them cool?

narcASD · 01/09/2025 21:28

It’s a very strange piece of clothing for such a young child, I can’t think of any reasonable excuse for a parent to buy these!

Ivygold · 01/09/2025 21:30

I can’t understand what purpose they serve. If anyone on here buys these for a 2 year old I’m curious to know why!

MsSmartShoes · 01/09/2025 21:31

I doubt anyone would buy them? Toddlers like to be comfortable.

Wornouttoday · 01/09/2025 21:32

🤮 I bet these are aimed at girls. Start them early on exposing their flesh 🤮🤮🤮

Arlanymor · 01/09/2025 21:33

They go back to the Bronze Age and were for comfort...

... I don't wear them, but things are so often sexualised when function is completely forgotten and people look for offence. Unless there are horrible words printed on them, they are just a functional piece of clothing.

DoAWheelie · 01/09/2025 21:35

People often let toddlers run around topless to stay cool. I don't see the issue with parents choosing to let their kid wear this instead if they are not comfortable with public nudity.

MyLimeGuide · 01/09/2025 22:01

Its super chavvy and wrong. A little girl was wearing one yesterday at an adventure park she went down a big plastic slide and got major friction burns on her back she screamed her head off!

You must have a really low opinion of men if you think this.

I think the amount of people who go through abuse as children say that the low opinion is warranted in a lot of cases. However, I don't think buying your child a crop top is going to make the blindest bit of difference.

BrentfordForever · 01/09/2025 22:07

A few missing from the pack, even more creepier!

OwlBeThere · 01/09/2025 22:11

My daughter was super tiny for her age and when she was 8/9 an age 2/3 vest easily would have fit her. She wanted to wear the same clothes as her friends but couldn’t because they were too big for her.
just saying just becuase the item has a young age size, it doesn’t mean it’s not useful for someone older.

BoredZelda · 01/09/2025 22:14

I love when people try to pretend it’s just a practical piece of clothing, but can’t explain why only girls need to “keep cool”

Unless you are suggesting that leaving a baby girl without a top on is somehow wrong but is ok for baby boys? Because isn’t that just as problematic?

Yes. The people who made these are targeting tiny 8 years olds. Thats why they put 2/3 on the packet 👍

FluffySnugglyBlankets · 01/09/2025 22:18

I wouldn't have a problem with these for during a heatwave. Just at home though.

Timeforabitofpeace · 01/09/2025 22:48

Yes it’s creepy and sexualising babies. It also looks cheap and nasty.

DiscoBob · 01/09/2025 22:51

No. It's just a piece of clothing. I don't know why anyone would think a toddler's torso was indecent.

I don't know why anyone would find a toddlers chest indecent

Laura95167 · 01/09/2025 23:06

Kids need layers and its the hottest summer on record. Its underwear not outter wear.

Well quite.

Dopeydoraz · 01/09/2025 23:25

So for everyone who thinks it’s fine, would they put a little boy in one of those

Well when it's hot they could just go with no vest under clothing? I don't understand the need for a crop top?
