What would your answer be?

If the question is worded as How many months have 30 days in them strictly speaking its 11. If its exactly 30 days then its 4

Leedsfan247 · 24/08/2025 18:22

11 everyone except February

exaltedwombat · 24/08/2025 18:42

Which answer was disallowed?

GiveDogBone · 24/08/2025 19:45

11, it doesn’t say “exactly 30 days”, etc. every month that has 31 days also has 30.

P.S. The 1% club had a very similar question this week with (therefore) a very similar trick.

Pub Quiz question: 'How many months have 30 days in?'

What would your answer be?

11: i.e. all of them apart from February.
Do you think it's a trick question?
Or did they really mean only exactly 30 days......in which case they should / would (if the question setters were worth their salt) have said so.
Will post this before I read the thread, as presumably you want "first thought" answers.

I hate those stupid questions. They are just designed to catch you out and either answer is kind of right whereas there should be one acceptable answer only.

There is only 1 acceptable answer

It's not a "trick" as so many people have said. It's basic reading and comprehension.

People saying 4 are answering a different question to the one asked.

I do agree with you; but I can see how different interpretations of the word 'trick' could legitimately be made.

I think that the phrase 'trick question' would often be understood to mean that a great many people would naturally be expected to assume a different answer - whether because of common (mis)understandings or a common way of thinking which means that many people will be liable to 'hear' a different question from the one that was actually asked.

What is the name of the main/central passageway in a traditional Christian church building, down which a bride will usually walk at her wedding?

11 months have 30 days IN them. That's not up for debate

How many months HAVE 30 days is where you can get the debate over whether they mean have 30 days as the total (April, June, September, November) or have at least 30 days (all bar February)
