I’ll start by saying I know this isn’t Tattle Life, but I’ve just caught up on instagram and Britney’s latest posts are truly horrifying and upsetting. As someone who grew up with her (& Christina) as my idols it’s so saddening to see what’s happened.

Has anyone else watched?

its also completely unrealistic- who “steps”
into a what, 40 year old woman’s life and tells her what she can and can’t do?!?

Exactly. You can’t just take her phone off her and say “no more instagram for you young lady”. In the same way you can’t click your fingers and make someone mentally stable.

The videos she posts will not even be one of the main reasons she was granted a (poor) conservatorship, it just adds context. It’s not something the courts take lightly at all and will be on the advice of doctors and family members. It will be to do with many things off camera, her private life, her personal life and her mental decline. She’s been under a conservatorship for almost 2 decades now - this well preceded her Instagram videos. I remember when she lost custody of her children to K-Fed who is a complete loser. There must have been a lot of serious stuff going on if he was the better alternative to her back then.

Of course, it is highly likely she has a life long, serious mental health condition, probably exasperated by drugs alcohol and the extreme stress of fame.

she was also, at the time, very vulnerable to financial fraud. Somehow, as far as we know, she seems to have improved on that front.

but there is no sign she is a danger to herself or others. She’s just illl.

I still haven’t seen anywhere a valid reason for her conservatorship. The bar for deprivation of liberty is quite high in the U.K. You’re allowed to make unwise decisions.

In America conservatorship is a scandal. It’s completely abused. Not just for those with mental health conditions but also the elderly. It is outrageous.

I think in the modern age everyone thinks that problems and health issues can just be fixed and finished. Many of us live with long term issues that are jut managed and tolerated.

I see it on here with random comments about going to the doctor, asking for this or that referral, going to 'therapy' as if people are fixable. Sometimes they are and sometimes they;re not.

It seems whenever people talk like this what they mean is “people with obvious mental illness should not be seen in public”.

There isn’t a magic cure. As long as she’s safe let her crack on.

3KidsPlusDdog · 19/08/2025 15:41

She looks so ill Sad

I hope that she at least has someone looking after her, an assistant/carer

SpaceRaccoon · 19/08/2025 15:44

What's the bar for intervention though? The US has seriously addicted and mentally unwell people literally living on the streets, lying in their own filth, screaming, raving incoherently and threatening people and nothing gets done.

A few shit tik-tok style dances don't even register by comparison.

I don't think she looks particularly well or happy. But you can't deprive an adult of their autonomy on such a low bar.

RitaFires · 19/08/2025 15:45

It's clear Britney is unwell but it's horrifying that people think handing over all her decision making and control of her fortune to her father who has had well documented substance abuse issues and gone bankrupt multiple times was the right way to treat a woman struggling with mental illness.

I'm not a psychiatrist but I've never heard of any mental illness best treated by forcing the sufferer to perform in Las Vegas every night.

ExtraOnions · 19/08/2025 15:46

Does she really look safe ?

Putting aside the bleary eyes, the smudged make up, unwashed hair, the screeching, lack of clothing, flashing of underwear, stumbling about, mumbling “I don’t know who I am”, etc .. putting aside all of that … the piles of (what appears to be) dog-shit behind her, in her home .. says to me “maybe this person needs more support than they are getting”

She is wide open up exploitation and abuse.

I completely agree with you that it’s abused and it appears there is a lot wrong with her conservatorship in this case.

My point is, I have no idea why she has or should not be granted one. I don’t know her or her life outside what I read on the news so I have no idea what is the best course of action for her!

Most information about her medical history, mental health, episodes, incidents, relationships, private life won’t be out there for any of us to make a judgement on. We simply have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes. We’re not privy to most things about celebrities. The judge, doctors and family members will have more information and be better placed to make a decision. Thats not to say I’m sure there’s some complete leeches close to her that have made things worse.

This. It was never made clear by her conservators why she was supposedly unwell enough to be deprived of control of her own life as an adult woman, yet well enough to do a residency in Las Vegas.

It seems according to them she was well enough to earn money, but not to decide how that money was spent.

Profhilodisaster · 19/08/2025 14:59

The thing that I don't get is she must have someone that knows or cares about her, why aren't they stepping in?

Do you have ANY IDEA what it's like trying to help a loved one who refuses help? No? Lucky you. Stop blaming the friends and family.

RosaMoline · 19/08/2025 15:50

Sadly, in my opinion, she’ll be a headline we’ll wake up to very soon.

TallulahBetty · 19/08/2025 15:50

Is that piles of dog crap on the floor behind her? Poor dogs; I wonder what else she isn't doing for them.

Wackadaywideawake · 19/08/2025 15:53

Exactly what CrispySquid said… that conservatorship was there was a very good reason. Poor woman.

SpaceRaccoon · 19/08/2025 15:55

She was doing the same dances when under the conservatorship though. It's not new.

NotanyOfit · 19/08/2025 15:57

She clearly does need support but genuine, caring, professional support not the situation she was in previously. She has some significant MH issues it seems and I’d suspect also ND. She’s been very let down by those closest to her and there’s obviously trauma around certain subjects. She possibly feels she has no purpose as was used for so many years by those who should have protected her .

Exactly. So why this leap to say she should have a conservatorship on the basis of freaky vids. Who are we saving? Our eyes? Her dignity? The latters a bit outdated no?

Fupoffyagrasshole · 19/08/2025 16:01

Honestly how is what she's doing any different to loads of other influencers on the internet

You know nothing about her or whats actually going on.

The conservatorship may have been needed at the time - but it was massively abuse of power from her dad making her work those vegas shows and taking her money!

She's an adult and if she wants to spend her days making these videos she should be allowed to! it's not up to anyone else to decide what she can and can't do!

Her mental health was destroyed by the media following her and taking photos of her upset with her baby on her lap in that cafe - it was awful how she was treated.

JLou08 · 19/08/2025 16:06

Someone shouldn't have their autonomy taken away because Joe public is uncomfortable to see someone who has mental health problems online. Why should she have to hide who she is from the world? Britney has as much right as anyone to post a dancing video online.

That's what I thought - the US system has some notable abuses in it - think John Oliver did a piece on it focused on OAP being abused by it - and then read similar horror stroies in new papers.

She was also working pretty hard while under it so it does raise questions - though she clearly had issue prior to it.

I do wonder if it exacerbated her issues - and if it didn't going to tight control to complete freedom often is a shock to the system - unfortunately she has fame and money and there many who'll help destructive tendacies along when you have that - more stable famous people than Britney have found that to their cost and it's not like her trust in family who she might let step in will be high after her total loss of freedom for years.

Pomped · 19/08/2025 16:07

I’m not disagreeing that she had the freedom to post whatever she wants. But the latest posts such as the “don’t know who I am” and flashing nipples, pulling her underwear down, along with the dog poo on the floor is just too much in aggregate IMHO and concerns me.

She's also reportedly on drugs, allegedly consumes them together with her son. If you watch closely, there's no joy or light in her eyes. She's a broken woman. Very sad.

It really does look that way to me too and it explains why no-one can help her. Very sad, must be torture for family and friends who love her and desperately want to help her.

outingouting · 19/08/2025 16:11

I’ve got family with lifelong mental health issues. I’d be delighted if the worst it presented itself was slightly odd videos and dead looking eyes.

she may well be getting absolutely first rate support without which she’d be in a complete state.

the reality of poor mental health is brutal and devastating. I don’t know what people expect.

She doesn't. Everyone in her life has always just wanted to profit off her and don't really care, that is the tragedy of it.
