Is anyone else freezing cold despite it being summer?

Just that really. I feel like I can’t warm up at all tonight and been the same a lot this week in particular. Jaw is so sore with TMJ, joints all hurt and I just feel so cold. In bed with a hot water bottle and a warm tea yet still so cold 🥶 Anyone else the same?
Am I being unreasonable thinking it’s too cold for being summer? (To be clear I know I can’t do much about it even if I am being unreasonable so it’s semi-lighthearted, semi-wanting to feel less alone in my coldness)

Yes! The only place I'm warm is in the office. It's bloody cold.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 10/08/2025 00:31

No, you're not alone.
I'm cold, too.
Our fire has been on quite a lot, and I keep my electric blanket on at night.

I can't believe it's August.

MOGHelp · 10/08/2025 00:32

I think it must be because you're unwell, I've got two of the bedroom windows open and the fan on! It was 28 here today

givingyoufirstshotok · 10/08/2025 00:33

Sorry to hear you’re cold too. Though also thank you for making me feel validated! I bought a bunch of cosy crew neck jumpers yesterday but so far still too cold 😄 I feel like a block of ice!

It's warmer than average here in the South West of England, we've spent the last week at least sleeping under a sheet as a duvet is too hot.

TinyTempest · 10/08/2025 00:35

Maybe you have Covid?

It's going around my workplace at the moment.

givingyoufirstshotok · 10/08/2025 00:35

@MOGHelpwe must be in different bits of the country! High today was 16°C but currently 11°C. Glad it’s warm for someone though 😄 Enjoy it!

I've had a hot water bottle these past few nights !

I never thought of that. But you make a good point, I had it in summer a few years ago! It did make me very shivery then so could possibly be, or I could just be cold. I’ll definitely keep an eye on it. Thank you 🙏

One of the time I had it, the only symptoms I had were aching joints and 'frozen bones', where I just couldn't get warm.

I didn't have the sniffles or a cough or anything else.

givingyoufirstshotok · 10/08/2025 00:51

@TinyTempestyes frozen bones is such an accurate description of how I feel tonight. Cuddling my hot water bottle tight.

Ahh well I hope you feel better soon and manage to sleep Flowers

StMarie4me · 10/08/2025 00:56

It’s 14 outside at 1am, 23 degrees in my home, I’m not cold.

twinkletwinklelittlestarhiwwur · 10/08/2025 01:03

I'm freezing. But I've got flu chills.

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 10/08/2025 01:05

Take a covid test and isolate if positive. It's a warm summer - this really isn't normal.

DrPrunesqualer · 10/08/2025 01:08

Might be worthwhile saying where you are in the country or the thread gets really confusing

So
Kent here

We have single glazing and hay for insulation and the windows open and I’m still too warm. We open the curtains at night to cool the house down
I m amazed some of you are cold and wondering if you all have a vitamin deficiency. Low B12 is well known to result in people feeling cold

NuffSaidSam · 10/08/2025 01:10

It's warm in London and has been for weeks. The odd slightly chilly morning, but otherwise it's been warm since May I think.

givingyoufirstshotok · 10/08/2025 01:13

@DrPrunesqualera good point. I’m west central Scotland (Ayrshire) and have single glazing windows too. I have ordered up a couple of Covid tests out of curiosity based on the answers on here- for peace of mind at least.

Faineante · 10/08/2025 01:34

Sorry to hear you’re feeling so rotten.

I’d say you’re definitely ill, because even at 11 degrees you shouldn’t be freezing. My first thought was either Covid or anaemia. Virus affected my ears and jaw, and caused aching joints. And anaemia had me wrapped in duvets during a hot summer years ago, almost too exhausted to turn over in bed.

So if your Covid test is negative I’d suggest seeking out your GP for a blood test. Hope it’s resolved soon.

LoveSoftAsAnEasyChair · 10/08/2025 03:03

OP, if you have any cayenne pepper, mix it with some coconut oil to make it stick to the bottom of your feet, and wear an old pair of sock to prevent staining your bed linen.
Info re cayenne pepper on feet is from Dr Barbara O’Neill.

Catladywithoutacat · 10/08/2025 03:10

That was my Covid symptom being freezing cold, have you tested?

Tablesandchairs23 · 10/08/2025 03:36

Depending on where you are. Its 21 degrees average today. How's that cold. Are you in the north pole.

NewLifeLoading · 10/08/2025 03:40

Iv got the window open above my head and had the fan on today too.

InfoSecInTheCity · 10/08/2025 07:48

I’ve lost a fair bit of weight since this time last year and without my natural insulation layer I feel cold pretty much constantly now, really hoping I can get used to the new normal, otherwise come winter I’m going to need a full body padded snow suit for constant wear to get me through it.

It was 21 where I was yesterday, but the temperature dips a lot at night (which does make it easier for sleeping for me).
