To think I do have muscular arms?

Chronicworrier123 · 31/07/2025 20:07

DH keeps saying they're not as muscular as I think but that I definitely have been able to remove my "bat wings" .

I feel like what he says is true, but also that I do have muscle!

I'm also aware they could.be more defined, but probably need to.lose more body fat for that.

Yes, I'd say you have muscular arms. Just not lean muscle definition, iyswim; maybe that's what he is thinking of.

💯 you have muscle! I’m jealous, I’ve been feeling quite proud of my biceps recently as a perimenopasual 50 something who’s been lifting weights for the last year but mine are teeny tiny in comparison to yours!

I’d be flexing those bad boys all day long 😂

Like the bulging type? Which yes, I would agree I don't.

That's a different angle / different light

you've got some muscle! 💪💪 looking strong! I lift heavy but as a tall long-limbed person it took me literally years to get visible biceps, and I still have to flex for them to look in any way impressive. Shoulders on the other hand, different story. I block out the sun.

Thank you! I'm a shortie that only got "heavy" dumbbells this year (10kg) and only do home workouts. I just recently graduated to 12.5kg

They are impressive. I was proud of my progress until I saw your arms. I have always had weedy arms and it has taken me almost a year of weights to see results 💪

Oceangrey · 31/07/2025 20:35

He's wrong!

ChristmasLightsLover · 31/07/2025 20:49

Yes!!! You have muscly arms. They will look different to a man’s muscly arms, but they are definitely muscle filled. You look incredible!!! Well done.

Tell your DH to keep
his thoughts to himself…

Waggytail · 31/07/2025 20:51

You look great!

Chronicworrier123 · 31/07/2025 21:01

Thanks! It's funny my husband doesn't disagree I have visible abs, but it's always the arms that he sounds a bit too negative.

randomchap · 31/07/2025 21:03

Bigger than mine

Avocadocat · 31/07/2025 21:05

That is a lovely bicep! 💪

Ineffable23 · 31/07/2025 21:07

Gosh I have got to the point where I think I have muscle-y arms and they are way less muscled than yours. Your DH is talking nonsense.

NeverAlways · 31/07/2025 21:13

you've got big muscles compared to me!

Chronicworrier123 · 31/07/2025 21:35

Thanks ladies! I sometimes wonder if he's jealous! Those are my abs for reference

Yes, you have muscly arms.

You also have a husband with dubious judgment of your body. I would lean into the likely reasons for his negativity rather than trying to understand what your physique is/isn't. On a gut level you must know he's talking bollocks, surely.

ThatLoudBear · 31/07/2025 22:14

Possibly bad lighting, but you don't have visible ab definition.

Wow, that's rather rude.

No, it's not. OP has a fantastic physique, but those aren't visible abs. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Why did you feel the need to say that? On a thread which is about OP's husband belittling her gains, you then go and do the exact same thing.

I don't have a six pack, but I do have visible obliques which are abs.....

Yea they are muscly, toned tum too!

ShowOfHands · 31/07/2025 22:26

Your dh probably needs an eye test.

Are you at the point of being horrified by the price of weights yet? I remember buying 30kg dumbbells to progress my workouts in lockdown and nearly had to sell one of the dc.

My 13yr old DS has started working out with me recently and he is making ridiculous gains. It's very annoying.

Proteinpud · 31/07/2025 22:28

I think people's perception of what 'muscly' is has got really distorted due to the fitness trends. The examples we see online are usually extreme in terms of genetics, muscle definition, how lean - if you compare someone who was considered ripped twenty years ago, eg Brad Pitt in fight club, these days people would think he's pretty skinny/scrawny!
I think you look fab btw, and the hard work is paying off!

I buy them from Argos. Gym Sets UK have pretty decent deals too
