Pointless predicting really, as we all know from previous ‘prediction’ polls.

Fwiw (very little), I’d bet that a minority of 16-18yr olds will vote. Of that minority, the majority will simply vote for the same party their parents have always voted for. Because of the teens that vote, it’s pretty certain that they’ll have parents who are an engaged part of the electorate.

But none of that matters, it’ll be insignificant. Desperate scraps for Labour. Desperate scraps. It could of course backfire (some teens do seem to support reform - there could be some sort of social media tik tok reform hijack in advance of an election) but even so..

pucksack · 18/07/2025 10:59

Oh you don’t say. You still got it wrong. Are you more wedded to Labour would you say

Got what wrong? You definitely aren't a fan of labour...

I'm not wedded to any party and have voted for at least 3 different ones in my lifetime. Why would you assume I'm more wedded to labour?
There's an awful lot of nuance missing in these interactions. Just because I understand why labour hasn't fixed the economy that has been struggling for nearly 2 decades in 2 yrs doesn't mean I think they are fantastic. Just because I think Reform is rubbish doesn't mean I love labour. When did thinking become so binary?

PandoraSocks · 18/07/2025 10:56

I’m feeling good about the option of a new party to the left

Oh come on. Be honest. You want a Corbyn party because you want to see the Labour support split, not because you want to "invigorate younger people to be engaged". You have posted your glee about the prospect of a split in Labour support on this very thread!

Do you always think you can write other people’s views and posts?

I think it’s an optimistic addition, why not, politics doesn’t have to be Labour drudge.

Teens tend to be idealistic and optimistic, I like that.

I could absolutely write yours. If I felt so inclined I could very easily set up a pastiche account that would fool everyone except you. Obviously I won’t.

JazbayGrapes · 18/07/2025 11:04

Not sure if that would change anything. UK has this phenomenon of voting "how everybody in the family does" - and that's grown adults, but zero opinion of their own. And changing your mind is almost unconscionable.

You got it wrong re assuming views on 16/ 17 votes as did someone else on my views on teens.

But yes by all means get the nuance back. A few parties have the chance to get my vote. Many people switch as I have.

pucksack · 18/07/2025 10:53

@GasPanic

I think you would label that long response as misdirection 🥱

Definitely.

I'd much prefer it if someone could actually answer the question.

So far all I've got is "it's inconsistent, but that's acceptable, because there are lots of other inconsistencies". Unless I am mistaken of course ?

I think you are smart enough to realise that this isn't filling me (or probably anyone else) with confidence that this is well thought out policy.

pucksack · 18/07/2025 11:06

have you not finished flogging that horse yet?!

I am going by what you have posted on these boards about the potential Corbyn party.

Well go by what I’m posting now then. I’m glad younger people will be able to be optimistic and vote further left.

pucksack · 18/07/2025 11:08

@PandoraSocks honestly don't waste your time!

I see, you’re one of those posters.

I did actually agree with earlier points on young people having the choice but you’re here for personal attacks.

Enjoy.

You know very well I am not talking about your views on teens. Do you always think you can misrepresent other people’s views and posts?

What are you even talking about here?

I’ve been direct on my views. You don’t like it but so what?

pucksack · 18/07/2025 11:12

@EasternStandard don't be disingenuous, you aren't interested in any actual debate.

You are posting emojis and personal digs.

What is it you want to actually say and debate?

pucksack · 18/07/2025 11:14

What personal digs did I post? Are we not allowed to use emojis? since when? Sometimes an emoji says it's best 👍🏼
