Currently staying in a caravan on of those holiday park things. Thought it would just be nice to go somewhere for the weekend. It’s absolutely boiling not enough space you can’t swing a cat in here. It’s supposed to be one of the ‘’nicer caravans’’ I can’t imagine what the other ones are like. I haven’t slept a wink in I’m hot itchy and feel gross. But the kids are having a good time. Tried to find somewhere a bit better on Airbnb but nothing really nearby.

Were you trying to sound cool saying '' one of those holiday parks things'

If caravans are so beneath you more fool you for booking it. It must be embarrassing for you that the kids could enjoy such a holiday

TerrorAustralis · 13/07/2025 05:23

Can you buy a fan to help you stay cool? I live somewhere that has hot summers and absolutely can’t sleep without a fan on summer nights.

InSpainTheRain · 13/07/2025 05:23

If the kids are enjoying it I'd try to stick it out to be honest. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear! Otherwise this will forever be the holiday you spoiled by dragging them home early.

TyneTeas · 13/07/2025 05:23

Do Airbnbs have different weather??

JMSA · 13/07/2025 05:25

I’d suck it up. Different if you were there for a whole week, but it’s one weekend.

declutteringmymind · 13/07/2025 05:26

When do you leave? Can you leave the night before as a compromise so you don’t miss much.

latetothefisting · 13/07/2025 05:29

If its just for the weekend then surely you'll be going tonight anyway? I wouldn't bother leaving at this point, let them enjoy the day and then leave in the evening so you can hopefully get some sleep tonight, although I'm up and mnetting because I couldn't sleep in my own room - unless you have full AC at home it's boiling everywhere!

No idea why the first poster was so unnecessarily arsey btw. Heat must be getting to them too

ThymeandBasil · 13/07/2025 06:00

If the children are enjoying themselves then I think you should just stay.

No you definitely feel triggered by something that’s why you said that. Some people refer it to a lodge that’s why I said caravan thing. I was born and raised on a council estate in definitely not a snob. Probably a bit more fussier now but not a snob.

We’re here until tomorrow it’s hell dog poo everywhere by our caravan. I’m going to complain at 9.

It's quite liberating reclaiming your time and leaving early. We did it once and it was my favourite thing of the whole holiday - never regretted it. Would you consider upgrading to a premier inn (if they have Aircon - I expect they do)? Find somewhere with a park or activity on the way home, buy them and icecream and the kids won't miss out.

Or if there is a pool, spend a lot of time in it.

Hothothothothothotlovingit · 13/07/2025 06:15

Where is it?

Caravans are very hot. Dog poo 💩 everywhere is gross though.

Do the kids want to stay?

thats a whole boatload of projection

DancefloorAcrobatics · 13/07/2025 06:29

Not sure why you spend all day inside the caravan instead of lounging buy the pool.

Flamingoknees · 13/07/2025 06:31

Complain about the poo - insist it's gone by 12. Stay for the kids. That's assuming the van is clean. Can you have a trip out for part of the day? I've loved caravan stays, but never just hung around the park all day. Out all day and back for tea. You're just been unfortunate with the heat - most people are struggling to sleep and be comfortable.

Slight overreaction, are you usually this vitriolic or you just triggered by people not sharing your unerring love of caravans?

Sorry OP I think if it was me and the kids were having fun I'd stay.

MuggleMe · 13/07/2025 06:59

LlynTegid · 13/07/2025 07:28

Losing a day, not terrible to go home early.

PollyCherry · 13/07/2025 07:31

The poo thing is just grim. An Airbnb would be cooler as they’re usually houses unlike a caravan which is hellish hot! I’d go home too

IanStirlingrocks · 13/07/2025 07:35

DancefloorAcrobatics · 13/07/2025 06:29

Not sure why you spend all day inside the caravan instead of lounging buy the pool.

Presumably because everybody else at the holiday park has had that idea and it’s absolutely rammed?

You seem to be getting pelters for this but it's the first thing I picked up on too, the whole post is very snobby. If the kids are having fun at one of those awful holiday park things then I'd suck it up for them moving to an air BnB just seems bizarre

Whaleandsnail6 · 13/07/2025 07:38

Id stay. Kids are having fun.

I adore caravan holidays tho, I'd love to be on one now!

alphabetti · 13/07/2025 07:41

Caravans can get hot through the night and sounds like your usual holiday is a bit more luxurious but bear in mind some people can’t even afford to take their children away for a couple days in a caravan so try and respect the fact you and your children in a position where you do get holidays so try and enjoy it.

ExpertArchFormat · 13/07/2025 07:50

The dog poo issue is definitely not on. The previous occupiers should lose their deposit for the park owners to pay someone to clean up.

But all camping type accommodation is too hot to be in during the day in summer. You spend the day elsewhere and only attempt to occupy the caravan/tent between about 8pm and 8am.

Cherrysoup · 13/07/2025 07:54

The nights have been unpleasant even at home with windows open and fans going. It’s an awful lot cooler this morning. Try to make the most of it, do a trip out.

I’d definitely insist they clear up the poo, that’s appalling!
