Currently staying in a caravan on of those holiday park things. Thought it would just be nice to go somewhere for the weekend. It’s absolutely boiling not enough space you can’t swing a cat in here. It’s supposed to be one of the ‘’nicer caravans’’ I can’t imagine what the other ones are like. I haven’t slept a wink in I’m hot itchy and feel gross. But the kids are having a good time. Tried to find somewhere a bit better on Airbnb but nothing really nearby.

Were you trying to sound cool saying '' one of those holiday parks things'

If caravans are so beneath you more fool you for booking it. It must be embarrassing for you that the kids could enjoy such a holiday

Unnecessarily rude!

whiteroseredrose · 13/07/2025 08:01

I’d suck it up if the children are having fun. Just don’t go anywhere similar again.

Caravans are unbearable in hot weather. Get a couple of fans from the supermarket and try that. The dog shit is another issue. Just grim.

If the kids are enjoying it, then I’d suck it up and stay.

Perhaps take in turns looking after them so the other parent can go and nap or just have some downtime if you’re tired.

Definitely complain about the dog poo.

Picklechicken · 13/07/2025 08:23

For the sake of just one more day surely you’d just suck it up? If the dc are enjoying themselves it’s going to leave a sour taste to pack everything up and head off in a huff.

Projecting much? 'One of those <whatever> things' is pretty normal phrasing about something you are a bit unfamiliar with or haven't tried before, whether you are being positive or negative about it.

And wrt a different post, is it so hard to believe that it might be easier to keep cool in a house than in a metal box? My house is fairly cool in spite of the heatwave.

Lord there are some stroppy, spiteful people about this morning! Heat getting to you perhaps?

It doesn’t sound great there but you only have one more day and the kids are having a good time. I went on a lot of caravan holidays as a kid and looking back, they are definitely more aimed at children than adults (bet my parents were bored).
Sounds like you might be a bit less stressed if you were cooler and slept better, is there anywhere you can drive to and buy a fan today? Might be worth spending £20 or £30 to have a more pleasant 48 hours and you can use the fan at home too. A few cool showers also. I get really agitated when I’m sticky and sweaty and suncreamy, I can feel it all on my skin and it’s gross
