To think amazon prime day is a bit shit this year?

The offers just seem a bit subpar and not much is actually on offer at all. I usually get a few things I need at a discount but its a bit disappointing this year. Amazon in general seems on the downslide with enshitification setting in. I actually found that I ended up ordering most of the items I was looking for elsewhere and suspect I will cancel my prime subscription when this one runs out.

I agree. I was going to buy a new kettle so held off for Prime Day. It's cheaper in Asda 🙄

OrigamiOwls · 09/07/2025 16:23

So far I haven't seen anything of interest. There's a lot of fanfare and seemingly not much substance.

SaturdayDream · 09/07/2025 16:23

I looked last night and none of it was interesting to me.

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 09/07/2025 16:24

I thought it was shit last year and ended up pausing in January- I haven’t missed it at all and don’t see me ever getting prime back

yelladuster · 09/07/2025 16:26

I think amazon imagine they are too big to fail but I'd rather wait for delivery than get ripped off or subpar service.

In general it's gone downhill...I used to get most things next day, even ordering late evening, now most are 2 days. I'll still use them as handy but not as great as they used to be

yelladuster · 09/07/2025 16:55

@Lovelynames123 Yep, next day delivery is pretty much all it has going for it at this point and it barely can even claim that now.

It's rubbish

SloppyThePoodle · 09/07/2025 17:02

Bezos just got married and his pals flew 95 private jets out to Venice for it. I don't support amazon and never will. Its destroying the planet.

TheNumberBlocks · 09/07/2025 20:49

Where I live I can get it the same day if I order up to about 3/4pm so im never giving it up

EggnogNoggin · 09/07/2025 20:52

I haven't bought from amazon in ages. A lot of the time it's cheaper elsewhere, especially once you factor in delivery ir Prime membership.

Maybe we are all.just buying less.

roses2 · 09/07/2025 20:59

I let my membership lapse last week, it's just not worth £100/year now. Most low value items are still free delivery if you have it sent to a nearby locker.

For those of you who continue with prime there is a little known way to share your prime account with someone else under the household settings. Enter their email address and they will also get prime.and you split the cost between the two of you.

Jesswebster01 · 09/07/2025 21:02

It gets worse every year think the things I wanted may have changed by £1

Amethystanddiamonds · 09/07/2025 21:09

I was looking at an overly expensive travel pillow over the weekend. £38. I'll wait for prime day and see if that changes I think. Seeing as I don't really need one and it's more a 'might be nice to have' I was thinking a price drop might persuade me. It has changed. It's now £45 because RRP is apparently £60!! I admit I have bought a few things but nothing exciting and not because it's prime day more because I actually needed some razor blades and pet food.

Nchangeo · 09/07/2025 21:12

Try looking on a different browser. I find my logged in prime account on my tablet sends me to more expensive items. When I browse on my phone not logged in I actually get what I want in the right size at the right price. On Apple you can airdrop the link over.

Londonrach1 · 09/07/2025 21:13

Yanbu. Things are more expensive than before. Also I'm getting fed up of returning things as the quality is awful...is there any way of finding out of item coming straight from China. It doesn't say now until after you bought it.

alexalisten · 09/07/2025 21:13

Its always a bit shit they bump prices up before it and then pretend you're saving stuff will be cheaper in a couple of weeks

ScrambledEggs12 · 09/07/2025 21:14

I like Prime for the 'First Read' free books each month. It's a bit like Premium Bonds, one of those little excitements in life....

I know that's not the original topic of the post!

vinnabawl · 09/07/2025 21:18

I replaced my Kindle so that was a win getting a bit off. I also bought some skincare bits. But other than that, yeah, everything I’ve had in my basket is still full price! Was so hoping some would be in the sale.

RaininSummer · 09/07/2025 21:21

I got a good deal on the Vax carpet shampooer in needed. Was around 100 pound dearer everywhere else I looked.

Changeminds20 · 09/07/2025 21:23

Agree…. I got excited when my husband said I’ve ordered something off Amazon as is prime month ( or something) I said ohhh what did you get….. a DUSTPAN & BRUSH!!!!! 🫩🤣

Cyclistmumgrandma · 09/07/2025 21:34

It rather depends on what you are after. I waited for Prime day to buy the robot vacuum I wanted and got £250 pounds off. I've had a fun afternoon setting it up!

NowYouSee · 09/07/2025 21:40

I bought some skincare products that I regularly use that were on a good price but that is it.

Oh which one did you get, I've been looking at them, some have quite a good discount.

I did get 80% off some hair straighteners which I needed to get.

Yes agree
