Thanks!
I think the statement on LI from the nephew is really intriguing. There's definitely more to come

I’m a bit gutted tbh. I was very inspired by the books, and rather wish she’d kept them as fiction, but I suppose, without the idea that it was someone’s lived experience, they were a bit dry.

I'm very glad you posted Thread 3 as I hate being the coloured poster! I don't like standing out.

Even as fiction it would be harmful to suggest an incurable disabling and terminal illness could be reversed by long distance walking.

And thanks to @AWanderingFool for the post summarising the latest stuff, quoted without any paywalls.

I won't be around anywhere near as much as you were on the second thread as I don't have a lot of free time, but I will be reading, keeping an eye and posting when possible - or necessary!

The post from the nephew suggests they're pathological liars. Perhaps they are and that holds them together. The lies that bind them!

I doubt I will either, I've been ill for the past few days, so haven't had much else to do!

Yeah, there’s plenty of ‘liar/grifter’ couples about in the world, clinging to each other in a folie à deux, so the nephew’s allegations could be bang on the money.

Seriously, get well soon and don't disappear completely.

Maybe you need to go for a walk...

God, I've 'wasted' so much of today reading both threads and have finally caught up!
For those asking if the film company have made any statements - there is this one right at the end of the BBC article:

A spokeswoman for Number 9 Films and Shadowplay Features, who made the screen adaptation, said in a statement to Hollywood trade publication Deadline, external: "There were no known claims against the book at the time of optioning it or producing and distributing the film."
Their statement called the movie "a faithful adaptation of the book that we optioned", adding, "we undertook all necessary due diligence before acquiring the book”.
"The allegations made in The Observer relate to the book and are a matter for the author Raynor Winn," it concluded. "We have passed any correspondence relating to the article to Raynor and her agent."
The film's stars Anderson and Isaacs, have also been contacted for a response. BBC Film, which also helped finance and executive produce the movie, declined to comment.
The film adaptation has taken around $16m (£11.7m) at the box office worldwide. The movie is yet to launch in Germany and France, while a deal is reportedly still pending in the US, according to Deadline.

No worries! I don't think it's your fault as the site is running slow to refresh for me too. I've reported one of them for you so it should get deleted at some point.

Thread 3: To feel disappointed after reading this in The Observer about the author and her husband from The Salt Path book and film?
DisappointedReader · 08/07/2025 00:12

Thanks for posting that @PrimalScreaming

Unless I missed it, I don't think the statement from the film company was part of the BBC item earlier so perhaps it was added when the item was updated this evening.

Someone in the previous thread also said that Walker's scheduled guest tutor gigs with Arvon (who run creative writing courses and retreats) have been cancelled.

And it might have been on here (but could have been somewhere else) where a talk (?) and Q & A coming up soon had also been cancelled and people were getting their £50 (!) fees back. I think this was for Crisis, and Walker was receiving a large fee for it.

So there's lots she's involved with not happening any more.

Fandango52 · 08/07/2025 00:17

I wonder when the next instalments of the investigation will come out? I guess probably on Sunday, if the Observer is leading on them. So that means there’ll potentially be a few more weeks worth of content from the investigation still to come.
