Pumpkin seeds stopped my leaking!

JemimaLikesADuck · 03/07/2025 12:20

After years of random leaking and dribbling after finishing on the loo, I have no issues!

I saw great reviews for a product that claimed to help with leaks but it was pricey. The main ingredient was pumpkin seed oil so I started eating a large handful of pumpkin seeds a day. After 3 weeks I noticed a difference and after 2 months the problem has gone. I can't believe it. Bit annoying that I'd seen a specialist who didn't think to tell me about this. If you are having the same symptoms you really need to try pumpkin seeds. I want to shout it from the rooftops.

I've just ordered the pumpkin oil capsules from Holland and Barrett as they are BOGOf at the moment. I'll report back in a couple of weeks.

Hippywannabe · 25/07/2025 17:57

My oil capsules are arriving tonight!

Yes, that's right. I could never work out what was going on as I didn't have the usual problems most women would complain about like leaking when sneezing or on a trampoline. I think those symptoms point to muscular issues but random leakind and dribbling after the loo point to overactive bladder, which pumpkin seeds help with.

It is worth looking at cystocele or prolapse of urethra too. Pelvic floor exercises/physio and local oestrogen may help there to make sure there is not a small amount of urine pooling.

Hippywannabe · 01/08/2025 13:57

How are we all doing? I had 1 capsule a day for the 1st 2 days then read the instructions and upped it to 3.
It's been less than a week but I have seen a dramatic improvement. I think I am going to be able to try just liners next week rather than superplus pads!

notapizzaeater · 01/08/2025 15:30

Brilliant - I take them everyday and use period knickers from primark now :)

KimberleyClark · 01/08/2025 15:33

I sprinkle pumpkin, sunflower, sesame and flax seeds on my fruit and yogurt every day. No leakage issues. I am 64.

Treaclewell · 02/08/2025 10:51

Following pp above, I reread my instructions, which say one capsule a day and not to exceed stated dose. Pity, as I was looking forward to increasing the effect. And I have a little scrape on my arm which hasn't scabbed properly yet, and I usually heal these things quickly, so with the remark about anti-coagulants above, I'm sticking to one. Leaking still down, but not stopped. If I go to the loo immediately on feeling the urge, I can have a dry pad, but if someone else is in there, it's a good thing I'm wearing one.
Two people in the house, in separate places. Person A doesn't spend long in the loo, person B does. A lot of the day no-one is in there. So why does it frequently happen that person B is in there when person A needs to go?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/08/2025 16:02

I'm on day 2 of my Holland and Barret ones, says to only take 1 a day . I think there's a bit of an improvement,my bladder feels more comfortable if that makes sense?

Hippywannabe · 03/08/2025 21:00

Just checked mine and they are definitely take 3.

I’ve been taking the Flowee supplement for a few weeks now and definitely an improvement.

notapizzaeater · 03/08/2025 21:15

These are the ones I’ve got too @Hippywannabe

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/08/2025 10:56

I'm only on day 4 and there's a big improvement. Only peeing once a night instead of 2 or 3 times and the whole uncomfortable bladder sensation a bit like cystitis has calmed right down. I hope it continues. It's much better than the handful of pumpkin seeds I was having before.

Hippywannabe · 04/08/2025 14:16

I have taken the plunge and ordered some pants for light bladder weakness (temu so we shall see) and bought liners instead of pads today.
This will be life changing if it carries on.

ThePoshUns · 04/08/2025 16:14

I’m trying to retrain my bladder/ brain around getting through the front door. Im
trying to think / do something else rather than run to the toilet as soon as I get in. It worked today and I was able to come in and unload the shopping whereas I normally am
peeing myself running to the loo.

ThePoshUns · 08/08/2025 12:34

I’m really noticing the difference now. I can feel the urge to pee now without having to straight away run to the loo, am able to hold it for much longer. I am taking flowee supplements but will switch to the cheaper pumpkin seed capsules . Hope everyone else is benefitting.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/08/2025 12:44

Still feeling a benefit especially with urge and at night I only get up once now. Last night I slept from 11-4.30am which is the longest I've slept for a LONG time and when I woke I didn't need to immediately rush to the loo.

ThePoshUns · 08/08/2025 13:19

I always wake up at 4.30 as well, although today managed until 5.45

Hippywannabe · 08/08/2025 15:10

I have gone from using the biggest pads to just a liner.
I cannot explain how grateful I am to this thread.

ThePoshUns · 08/08/2025 15:15

Me too Hippy. Has made such a difference to me.

slapdashsusie · 08/08/2025 15:47

I started my capsules a week ago, and I remember thinking “this must be how a placebo feels” because I felt almost immediate relief.
I ordered from iHerb (couldn’t find it in Sydney) when I first read this thread a month ago.
thank you OP I had never heard of pumpkin seed oil before, and my bladder was ruining my life.

scoobs321 · 09/08/2025 08:44

Hi I've been following this thread and have also started using the H&B pumpkin seed oil capsules. It's been less than a week so probably too soon to tell but I do feel like I'm having less accidents where I'm not quite making it to the loo. My issue is urge incontinence where if I'm walking home from work thinking I need a wee when I get home, as soon as I get to the front door it's like there is no holding on anymore and I'm having to either stand still and try to 'gather' myself in order to make it up the stairs or I just go for it up the stairs and leak all the way.
It's always evenings after I've been sipping water all day. Never in the mornings, I can go for a run in the AM and not leak at all, a PM run is a very different story!
Anyway sorry for the essay, I'll report back once I've had time to assess if the pumpkins are working!

ThatNoisyTealBird · 09/08/2025 17:49

Doe's anyone know if these would help with recurrent UTI's? I've been suffering for a the past year after never being prone to them before. Urine tests have been negative but every couple of months I have all the symptoms. 🙁I already take D-Mannose and Cranberry supplements which have helped up to a point. I've had light leaking since the children (youngest now 25!) but nothing too bothersome so I've just put up with it!

Lurkingandlearning · 05/07/2025 05:49

That’s interesting, OP. Also Once the pee stops, rocking back and forth a couple of times releases that last bit of remaining pee.

Edited

A family member had carers coming in for a while, and one of them encouraged her (with support) to lean forward as much as she could whilst sitting on the loo, and try to touch her toes, to squish the last bit of wee out.

It worked, but if don't try this at home if you are unsteady or easily dizzy.

They've helped with my uncomfortable/ cystitis but not cystitis symptoms. I've been to a BBQ this afternoon at 12, had a wee before I went and have only just got in and had another, it's gone 6 now . This is unheard of, I'm amazed, all the spasms and feeling I need to go all the time have gone.

Yes, this has been helping me too, really helps.
