Pumpkin seeds stopped my leaking!

JemimaLikesADuck · 03/07/2025 12:20

After years of random leaking and dribbling after finishing on the loo, I have no issues!

I saw great reviews for a product that claimed to help with leaks but it was pricey. The main ingredient was pumpkin seed oil so I started eating a large handful of pumpkin seeds a day. After 3 weeks I noticed a difference and after 2 months the problem has gone. I can't believe it. Bit annoying that I'd seen a specialist who didn't think to tell me about this. If you are having the same symptoms you really need to try pumpkin seeds. I want to shout it from the rooftops.

Apricot seeds?!

Well no, she said pumpkin.

Well no, she said pumpkin.

Yes but some nutter derailed the thread claiming apricot seeds cure cancer. It helps to read the original quote.

AuntyHistamine · 05/07/2025 06:15

Is this a piss take?

pyzaz · 05/07/2025 06:48

Pumpkin seeds are high in magnesium, which is essential for muscle and nerve health, so could be something to do with that.

Apricot seeds? You mean apricot stones?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/07/2025 07:42

I've had success with pumpkin seeds too, a handful on my porridge every morning.

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 05/07/2025 09:22

I’ve reported the apricot seeds/stones post but it’s still here 😵‍💫.

It depends on the reason for the incontinence, surely. If the vaginal muscles have weakened through childbirth, I don’t think pumpkin seeds will sort it out. I could be wrong though! And it’s fantastic that you have found something that works for you, OP 😊

Yes, that's right. I could never work out what was going on as I didn't have the usual problems most women would complain about like leaking when sneezing or on a trampoline. I think those symptoms point to muscular issues but random leakind and dribbling after the loo point to overactive bladder, which pumpkin seeds help with.

What kind of amounts are you taking @JemimaLikesADuck

A large handful every day without fail - just Tesco ones. Nothing fancy.

So have I, looks like mumsnet are happy to keep cancer misinformation on their site.

Apricot seeds are not a cure for cancer.

Apricot Seeds for Cancer Treatment

Apricot seeds, specifically a chemical compound inside called amygdalin, have long been touted as an anticancer agent. But there is no proof that they work as a cancer treatment, and they actually may be harmful.

@Imlazyandiknowit99 what absolute nonsense. As if there is a circle of doctors keeping a secret about apricot seeds. If anything you can get cyanide poisoning from apricot seeds. Do your research. My husband is terminally ill with cancer and I find all this misinformation highly offensive and dangerous.

Sorry to derail the thread. There is evidence that pumpkin seeds can help with bladder issues though!

It takes a lot of seeds to cyanide poisoning 🙄

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/07/2025 13:02

I buy them on line, much cheaper than supermarkets.

ThePoshUns · 05/07/2025 13:05

Ah I’ve just bought an expensive supplement containing pumpkin seeds. I’ll see how it goes if it works I’ll switch to the pumpkin seed oil off Amazon mentioned here.

Treaclewell · 23/07/2025 16:26

After reading the OP I ordered oil capsules from Holland and Barrett - I don't use Amazon. The first day I had no leaks which I found worrying, but it was hot and I was sweating. Nothing should work that fast and I didn't want to damage my kidneys. I've made sure to drink adequately since. I haven't stopped leaking, but it's getting better, pads last longer, and urine flows satisfyingly into the loo. That's after a fortnight, taking one capsule every morning. I'm amused by the packaging, for men's health, with magnesium good for boosting testosterone. No extra hairs on my chin.
My incontinence isn't due to having had pregnancy, just age. And I've been lazy about consulting the GP, who doesn't have a clinic for this. Judging by the rate of sales of pads in Waitrose, he ought to.

Care to share the name of them please?

Treaclewell · 23/07/2025 21:38

By the way, pumpkins and other cucurbitae belong to a family which has a poisonous member - white bryony, So I am looking out for possible side effects. H&B wouldn't, I suppose, risk selling them if there was a problem, but my Dad and I have gut problems from over ripe cucumbers. So far, all well.

Thisismynewname23 · 23/07/2025 21:38

I’ve started having a dessert spoon of them
on top of my fruit and yoghurt for breakfast but I’ve also been doing pelvic floor exercises twice a day, there is a great account on Facebook and TikTok the female physio and she does a quick minute and a half guided exercise each day that I’ve been doing at least twice a day and it’s made a huge difference in just a month x

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/07/2025 23:21

Thanks! 😊

Just a caution as you shouldn’t take pumpkin seed oil if on anticoagulants as it can increase the risk of bleeding

ThePoshUns · 24/07/2025 21:20

ive been taking floweee supplements for about 2 weeks now and my urgency to pee is improving . I just got in from a walk and didn’t need to waddle to the loo with pee dribbling down my leg.
