Let's have a positive post.

Tell me the little things that make you happy. Here's mine:

Seeing lines of school kids in high vis walking along the street on a school trip.
Waking up when it's warm, light outside, and the birds are singing.
Light evenings when it doesn't get dark until almost 10
The feeling after a long day in the sun
Tea from a tea pot
The sounds of kids playing outside
Cosy evenings by a Ch***as tree
New starts in September
Seeing a bee on a flower I grew

The nature I can see from my house - we’re in London and I’ve seen a woodpecker on my neighbour’s willow tree recently and have been watching a mum Magpie teaching its two babies to fly over the past week.

I’ve also put a Perspex bird box on our back door window and have had squirrels and magpies visit.
I also get a great deal of joy from a fake copper birdbath I bought off eBay which I’ve put a solar powered water fountain in. It’s really quite lovely and I love hearing the water - it is so relaxing.

The starlings taking a shower in my water feacture, my roses blooming and some evenings the hedgehog dropping by for supper

Fresh flowers in a clear vase and the smell
of fresh cut grass .

Niche- a local van driver had a spiderman toy on the front of his van, has done for years. Seeing it around town.

KookyMoose · 01/07/2025 17:07

When someone waves to thank me when I give way in my car.

shellyleppard · 01/07/2025 17:07

The bumble bees enjoying the lavender in the garden. Absolutely loads of them today. Watching the wood pigeons eating the cherries off my neighbours tree.....we had 7 on there Sunday night. Quite funny when the branch isn't very strong and they slip off....

Seeing old people eat ice cream

Thaawtsom · 01/07/2025 17:09

An old gentleman who lives near us (who suffers with dementia) who likes to come out and wave at the traffic as it goes by as though he were royalty. Everyone I know waves back. Big cheery smile from him, as well. Dementia is awful (I know from up close) but I love how it is currently expressing in him. I will be sad when this stage ends.

Thaawtsom · 01/07/2025 17:11

Also the little "oooo" noise my DS17 makes when he finds something he likes in the fridge that he didn't know was there.

Ohthatsabitshit · 01/07/2025 17:14

The staff at my local leisure centre and gym. They are so very very kind to my ds who has additional needs. For nearly two decades they’ve made our lives just a little bit happier because we are always welcome.

Myblueclematis · 01/07/2025 17:25

The birds in my garden, I splashed out for large bird baths and they are in it constantly. Also mum and dad blackbird who have been coming for several years now, I put apple quarters and sultanas out for them

First and only coffee of the day, there's nothing like it.

Going to bed at the moment and it's still almost daylight at 10.30-11 pm ish.

Getting a new book out of the library by a favourite author when you've read everything else they have on the shelves.

When my roses come into bloom
When I find a fiver I thought I’d lost
When I get Wordle in two

RabbitsRock · 01/07/2025 17:27

Lovely thread OP.
Just watching my bunnies
A good cuppa
Sunday mornings with a cuppa, in bed with DH, knowing neither of us has to go to work
A cooling breeze
Jellybeans
Making lists
Crisp clean bedsheets
Admiring the kitchen surfaces when they’ve been wiped down & cleared of dirty dishes
Finding one more sweet in the packet when I’m driving & thought I’d eaten them all

funinthesun19 · 01/07/2025 17:28

Butterflies flying together in the garden. It always looks like they are dancing or playing. They’re so cute.

KimberleyClark · 01/07/2025 17:31

Hearing my neighbour’s dogs going out for a walk. They sound so happy and excited.

Browsing the bookshelves in charity and second hand bookshops.

AllrightNowBaby · 01/07/2025 17:35

I get a lot of pleasure from watching the birds on my bird table, especially the Robin who stares at me from the washing line and stamps her feet 🤣 when the food needs topping up.
Coming home to my little dog who smiles and prances about in excitement to see me.

Meadowfinch · 01/07/2025 17:40

when my ds was 3 we were abroad, it was stewing hot and he toddled into his bedroom, took off all his clothes and went to sleep lying face down on his bed. He looked like a peaceful little cherub and I took a picture, which he hates.
.
This morning at 6.30 I went to wake 17yo, six foot ds and he had done the same. Lying face down on the bed.

I was soooo tempted to take a picture. 😊

Seeing my Bengali opposite neighbour sharing Eid food with her Roma neighbours.
Seeing old punks still putting the effort in
Polite teenagers

When someone waves to thank me when I give way in my car.

I was going to say this one also when a complete stranger helps you i love seeing people help each other.

Username12284949 · 01/07/2025 17:59

Bus drivers using their hazard lights to say thank you when I let them out.

HopeSpringsInfernal · 01/07/2025 18:05

Hearing the blackbird singing his heart out in the tree outside my window.
Seeing a bee - any bee, on the plants in my garden. I used to see lots of them, but for the last two years I've see very few - it's worrying.

DownsideUpside · 01/07/2025 18:52

When you see a toddler in the supermarket who has clearly dressed themselves, in welly boots, tutu, and spiderman mask.

Currently in my garden absolutely heaving with bees and butterflies, thankfully. And lots of ladybirds too.
The bees love clover flowers so we let the lawn get overrun with them (and tell the children never to run barefoot!)

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire 🔥😀
My beautiful rose bush

Rainbowpeppercorn · 01/07/2025 19:11

Peeking my head around the corner of the living room door to see my (previously abused), rescue dog snoozing with his legs up in the air, in full bliss mode.

Spending over two hours this spring watching 12 fledgling blue tits all leave the little nest box that DH had made this winter.

Hearing the little children laughing whilst out in the playground of our village primary school when I walk by on my dog walk.

The sounds of my teen DS and DD laughing together (they are not often together these days).

Seeing my mum smile and say my name when I go to my parents house. Mum has advanced Alzheimer's and is starting to forget who we all are so those days are precious.
