Let's have a positive post.

Tell me the little things that make you happy. Here's mine:

Seeing lines of school kids in high vis walking along the street on a school trip.
Waking up when it's warm, light outside, and the birds are singing.
Light evenings when it doesn't get dark until almost 10
The feeling after a long day in the sun
Tea from a tea pot
The sounds of kids playing outside
Cosy evenings by a Ch***as tree
New starts in September
Seeing a bee on a flower I grew

When my cat chooses me to cuddle up with (I'm the spare human)

When people do wiggly fingers or a peace sign instead of a simple hand-raise to say thank you for giving way in the car.

  • Coca Cola from a glass bottle
  • Watching a dog play in a hose or sprinkler
  • A cat “making biscuits” on me
  • Toddlers laughing hysterically at something that just a normal, everyday thing
  • Big, chubby baby feet
  • The first sip of an ice cold pint
  • Getting off the plane at your holiday destination and feeling the warmth smack you in the face
  • The feeling of sand on my feet when I first step onto a beach
  • When you’ve finished decorating the Christmas tree and turn the lights on for the first time
  • When my husband gets the giggles like a little school boy who’s done something naughty
  • the way my youngest daughter pronounces the word “pineapple”

I absolutely love to see a horse looking out of his stable door - but sadly I rarely see this as I live in London, so I get stupidly excited when I do go past some stables or a country house and there are horses. It's a bit like spotting a hedgehog or something equally exciting.

More day to day - seeing a robin, an incredible rose bush in absolute full bloom, a swathe of daffodils, a maple tree in the Autumn. I'm a full-time tree hugger tbh.

OnAMissionToLoseWeight · 01/07/2025 19:21

Seeing the scales drop every week following my lifestyle changes.

Finding a good book.

Creating art.

Seeing deer, squirrels and birds on my walks.

Being around waterfalls.

When my dog communicates with me - she is so expressive and gets her point across so well it’s almost as if she’s talking to me.

When my OH randomly hugs/kisses me or holds my hand.

  • The bees (lots, of different types) on the brambles we have trained up from weeds into productive fruit
  • Breakfast pancakes with homegrown bramble syrup/jam (I’m not a proper cook but whatever I’ve made tastes nice enough for my family)
  • When I make my husband really giggle - I adore his face crinkles
Sobblimminwindy · 01/07/2025 19:31

When my rescue dog deigns to give me some affection, even if it's looking in my direction.
Old people holding hands.
Small children walking crocodile style in pairs with their little yellow jackets on.
People wearing inflatable dinosaur costumes.
American pancakes with syrup.
Walking with my miserable dog and seeing him being absurdly happy and forgetting he's miserable.
DH and I saying the same egg jokes to each other that we've been saying for 25 years.
Soooo many!!!

aLittleWhiteHorse · 01/07/2025 20:36

Flowers with a scent

other people’s dogs when I’m out walking, especially if they have a perky gait

paddling in the sea

my young niece entertaining me

babies in general

my cat, all day long!

SophiaPetrillo1905 · 01/07/2025 20:59

When I've washed my hair, got fresh pyjamas and fresh bed sheets - only aligns sometimes but when it does it is blissful!

Sitting outside and reading.

The occasions when DH and I will be walking along and out of nowhere he will just drop a kiss on my head.

When DC say they love me.

When we are having a meal as a family and we all start giggling about something silly.

Seeing people win good/ big prizes.

Femalefootyfan · 01/07/2025 21:00

Hearing the cows mooing who reside in the fields near my house, I spent most of my life living in large towns so this noise is wonderful

Seeing the rose bushes I planted blooming with flowers

The peace and quiet late at night and in the early morning

Hearing my grandchildren laugh at something really silly

When my grandchildren say ‘I love you’ 🥰

Jackdog39 · 01/07/2025 21:08

This is so lovely.
I love seeing my roses in full bloom, the smell of sweet peas, when my Jack Russell sneaks upstairs for a cuddle on the bed, seeing my grown up sons together (they miss each other and sort of wrestle and play fight, rather than a straightforward cuddle), my first cup of coffee in bed, clean sheets, swimming in the sea, Olverum baths, sunshine, snow, stripes on my lawn, old photos, my husband when he whistles, seeing old friends, red wine warming by an open fire and frazzles (guilty pleasure).

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 01/07/2025 21:09

I drive past a house on a country lane on my way to work that owns 2 donkeys, if they are out in the field it makes my day.

GreyHood · 01/07/2025 21:17

My washing line, just filled and the weather just right to dry it all quickly.

My toddler neice and her over joy at the smallest things.

Hearing my teen dcs chatting about nothing in particular, just getting along instead of fighting.

Seahorsesplendour · 01/07/2025 21:19

Lovely thread just what I needed tonight thanks @susanandlucypevensie

the sound of my ds laughing
listening to our neighbouring owl at dusk
seeing my ds play with his cousins
being with my brother & sister & mom
rabbit doing springy hops
petrichor
log fire
watching the sea

bringmecheesecake · 01/07/2025 21:22

Today's highlights:

The excited hand wave my baby does when he sees food he likes being brought to the high chair.

Pulling a weed from the garden and having all the giant root come up in one fell swoop.

The clanging noise when you put weights down after finishing a set at the gym.

Hearing my toddler yell "look at the little baby bumblebee!" on our nature walk.

Finding matching socks in the basket.

Yourinmyspot · 01/07/2025 21:26

Seeing the children on the way to school (and their younger siblings) smile and wave at me when I’m at work in the mornings and afternoons.

Pancakeflipper · 01/07/2025 21:29

There's 2 cabbage white butterflies that appeared in my garden 4 days ago. When I water the garden, hang washing out etc...they come dancing out and dance around me.

JLou08 · 01/07/2025 21:35

Fresh bedding that has just been washed with extra fabric softener.
Sunsets on the beach.
Older couples holding hands.
Crunchy leaves in the forest in Autumn.
Walking through the forest/woodland early in the morning when all that can be heard are the birds.

SausagesandBurgersInBreadBuns · 01/07/2025 21:45

I love watching the birds in the garden taking food to the nest then the youngsters emerge. We have at least 3 nests, its lovely to watch.
I also love listening to the fuschia bush.... There are so many bees on it, i can hear the humming.
I love greeting the neighbours cats as Im out and about. I give them all nicknames, they run up for fuss. It makes my day.

PassingStranger · 01/07/2025 21:46

Warm Summer days.
Light Evenings.
Holidays.
Birds Singing.
My bed.

Sahara123 · 01/07/2025 21:53

Clean sheets straight off the line.
Freshly cut grass
The woodpecker on the bird table - all the birds really. And a blackbird singing, so beautiful.
Ice cream from our local Italian shop.
My girls all chatting and laughing together.
My cats finding a warm spot and stretching out.

Bluecat7 · 01/07/2025 22:10

The swallows swooping round for insects in the evening. Watching the daft fledgling blackbird who spent a week or so in our garden. The sweet peas that have climbed up my new frame and are nearly out. Seeing the changes in the garden every day. Completing a good writing session. The buzzy feeling after exercise. Being exactly satisfied after the right amount of good things to eat. Having time for a nap. Being absorbed into a good book.

Myblueclematis · 02/07/2025 08:12

Seeing the slight change in colour on my tomatoes, they're starting to go red and my beans have flowers. I'll be eating my own home grown produce in a few weeks.

Yourinmyspot · 02/07/2025 16:35

Watching our two baby Guinea pigs doing zoomies and popcorning. Just enjoying themselves.

EmotionallyWeird · 02/07/2025 22:15

At the moment a lot of flowers and gardens are making me smile.
