In shops and cafes, barking and making people jump, tripping over them in the street... Seems everyone and their Auntie Flo has a dog nowadays.

We went to a local hotel bar for cocktails last night. Dogs are allowed in. Four different dogs from different families all barking their heads off. Sorry dog owners but it doesn't add up to a good night out.

Again, you are talking down to ALL dog owners. My two have never been to a cocktail bar. I don't take my dogs on nights out 😂.

Cherrytree86 · 11/08/2025 09:23

Dogs should NOT be in a cocktail bar.

why can’t they just be left at home??!

people reaaaallly need to get a grip

Maybe they were staying in the hotel? Some hotels wont let you leave your dog unattended in the room.

VanGoSunflowers · 11/08/2025 09:29

FGS of course dogs shouldn’t be in cocktail bars. That’s nuts.
I wouldn’t take mine to one. But then I wouldn’t go to one myself so fair enough really.

@YeOldeGreyhound

dont take your dog to a hotel then

it’s not very hygienic.

No they usually won’t. You leave your dog in your car if you wish to avail yourself of parts of the hotel that don’t allow dogs.

One lovely country house hotel I stay in has a separate dining room for dogs and their owners. Free sausage provided for dog at breakfast on request.

I don’t think dogs should be in food serving areas. it’s good there is a separate dining room for this.

Um, and leave the dog at home for days at a time?
Many hotels welcome dogs so people staying there with their dogs are doing nothing wrong.

Quite. If hotels want to be dog friendly that’s up to them. There’s no law against it. There are plenty of hotels that don’t welcome dogs.

@YeOldeGreyhound

kennels?

but if there are specific dog friendly hotels for dog owners obviously that’s another option. Just so long as there are plenty of nice hotels that don’t allow dogs also?

Some people want their dog with them when they go away. And not all dogs can cope in kennels. Mine was distraught and would not eat. She was like a skeleton when I picked her up.

There are plenty of hotels that don't allow dogs, so I don't think the dogs in hotels thing is a big a problem as some people make it out to be.

true, some people do want their dog with them when they go away don’t they. I can’t understand it myself as when I go on holiday I like to explore and go to nice places without restriction - as you say lots of places don’t allow dogs. But each to their own!

I dont take my dogs to hotels but you do realise there are hotels that cater for dogs.

I agree dogs shouldn't be in cocktail bars though. None of my dog friends take their dogs on a night out.

It wasn't a cocktail bar, it was a local hotel bar that served drinkis so quite relaxed. But some dog owners do take their pets to bars it seem

I would guess they were locals rather than overnight guests.

Dogs also like to explore and go to new places, smells different smells.

yeah but their desire to explore and go to new places shouldn’t trump the desire of actual people to explore and go new places. Must be so hard these days if you have an allergy to a dogs or a fear of them

I pick holidays based on places I can stay and go with my dog. She loves beaches, so I go to places with beaches that allow dogs.
I don't think about the desires of other people as they are nothing to do with me.

Me too!

Affectionate, loyal, friendly, always happy to see you, funny....miles better than people.

Anyway we need another dog hating thread, there's not been one today and MN law states there has to be one daily.

isn't it weird you put dogs entirely before humans? bit strange

I'm very sure about that.

Most dog owners are sensible, so you dont need to tell us off like we are children.

hilarious , of course most dog owners aren't sensible . they'd rather you were on fire than their beloved furry baby not get it's own way. wakey wakey dog nutters!

Ihateboris · 25/06/2025 13:19

Bloody kids everywhere in my town 😒. ..went to get a manicure yesterday hoping for a quiet experience. No chance
..Screaming kids, kids on ipads watching crap on full volume, kids running around, kids lying on the floor. Parents oblivious. There was also a really lovely well behaved dog just chilling next to it's owner. Give me a dog any day!

humans preferring dogs ..... brood parasitism much?
