Should we use gloss or modern eggshell?!?!

It’s from the archive so I need to order it online. Preferably soon or it’s never getting done this summer. 😅 And I am in decision paralysis! Help please 🙏

Also, depending on the rest of your house, don’t do a white frame…. Try imperial red or a more sedate burgundy. (Imperial Red below) Contrasts with and highlights your blue

Gloss is much more hard wearing but difficult to do well, have F&B gloss in a richer colour and love it. If F&B still did oil eggshell, which I have in the utility, I would be mixed but for long term smartness and a finish that is easy to clean can't beat gloss IMO, as long as it is done right. Which is much harder than eggshell.

@Francestein I agree, will need to blend with the windows and wall material also. If brick consider a more orange based neutral etc

Just make sure it’s outdoor paint, it’s made to handle the elements better.

Gloss easier to clean and when completely dry, use turtle wax and it makes dirt fall off

I love the colour and voted gloss. Have a look at @wkpd1986 on instagram, he's an amazing decorator and has lots of examples of high gloss front doors that look stunning. Keep the surround white, it should match the windows, only the door itself should be a different colour.

Gloss stays in much better condition and is easier to clean outside, and will suit your property better. Have fun painting!

Love this colour and have very similar in Little Greene who still do an oil egg shell so that’s what mine is and also the frame.

If it’s api t for outdoors go for eggshell if not go gloss otherwise won’t last 5 mins

Eggshell, it'll give more depth to the colour, gloss reflects too much light.

Our side entrance door is eggshell, it cleans up just as easily as gloss.
Anyone who says that exterior paint has to be gloss to be easily wiped has never used exterior paint, which comes in eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, and gloss sheens.

Our builder told us that gloss will last longer.

Its a tough one.... im leaning towards gloss.

Gloss- I did ours in eggshell and really regret it. It just looks...sad. and gets dirty fast.
