Do people still use tablets or do you do everything on your phones these days?
Thinking of getting a tablet, but not sure if I need both.
Be interested to hear what people do re going on line.😜

I’ve never used one. Outside work (mixture of laptop and desktop) I use my laptop if I want to write documents or use other files etc. My phone for calls, WhatsApp and other apps and brief emails. My teenage son uses his tablet for zoom calls and other things - I think it’s a generational thing.

LegoAirlines · 08/06/2025 21:44

I have an iPad but only use it if the telly is broken (often is, long story).

If I’m reading or on the internet, I use my phone. For anything that requires lots of typing, I want my laptop.

feelingbleh · 08/06/2025 21:46

I use a tablet for games as its a bigger screen

MustDust · 08/06/2025 21:46

DH and I have the same tablet, I probably use mine once every couple of weeks or so, his is used daily. I'm on my phone right now and he's on his tablet. He watches a lot of TV - often background noise or while cooking, I tend to read so I can do that on my phone.

JaceLancs · 08/06/2025 22:00

I have an iPad Pro which I prefer for playing games, reading kindle books and watching YouTube

northernstars · 08/06/2025 22:02

I have an old cracked ipad I use for watching films while I’m designing on my new iPad - phone far too small.

I don't use it. I got it with my phone upgrade, it's sat unused since I got it. I may let the kids on it to do homework or something. But apart from that I just use my phone for everything.

Leapintothelightning · 08/06/2025 22:06

We have an iPad that we used when we went on a cruise to watch films. Only time it’s ever been used and we’ve had it a few years! I mostly use my phone or if I’m doing something that requires a lot of typing I’ll use my laptop.

Me too. Plus I have one charging while using the other. I am retired so use them a lot of the time.

DramaAlpaca · 08/06/2025 22:09

I use my Samsung tablet almost all the time. I like its big screen compared to my phone, especially for reading and shopping. I use my phone when out and about. I hardly ever use my laptop these days, unless I need to do a lot of typing or watch something on the iPlayer.

Sooverthemill · 08/06/2025 22:09

I use my iPad constantly. It’s bigger than my iPhone for reading stuff in: so for ebooks, recipes, mumsnet, knitCompanion etc etc. I never use my MacBook anymore though

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 08/06/2025 22:10

I love my (Samsung) tablet 😍

I have a decent phone but don't really use it for the internet unless out and about and don't do social media so no scrolling 24/7. A phone screen is so small, a tablet is bigger and better!

SophiaSW1 · 08/06/2025 22:13

I use both iPhone and iPad.

PeonyBlushSuede · 08/06/2025 22:14

I use my iPad quite a bit - but I don’t have a laptop. I don’t think I would use a tablet and laptop - for me it’s one or the other device

Ddakji · 08/06/2025 22:15

I’m on my iPad right now and it really is better to use the bigger screen but I do use my phone most of the time.

Purplebunnie · 08/06/2025 22:18

I use my tablet to read books, I also play the odd game on it. I find it easier as the screen is obviously bigger

MarxistMags · 08/06/2025 22:19

Yes, I do use my tablet every day. I like it for the bigger screen when I'm looking at maps, photos emails and some reels. But it's just a cheapish Lenovo, (about £130) good enough for my needs though. I can't fault it.

Cynic17 · 08/06/2025 22:22

Yes, use mine a lot because the screen ie so much bigger. Mainly for Kindle books, which I would never, ever read on a phone. In fact, if I had to choose just one, I would have a tablet in preference to a phone.

TubeScreamer · 08/06/2025 22:45

Yes, all the time (including now). I only use my phone if I’m out and about.

OneFineDay13 · 08/06/2025 22:50

Laptop for work type stuff and iPhone

echt · 08/06/2025 22:51

The phone for the car, texting, photos and calls. The iPad stays upstairs in my bedroom and is for streaming. The laptop stays downstairs and is moved around from kitchen to living room.

Teeal · 08/06/2025 22:51

I use it to watch Netflix in bed and for digital art.

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 08/06/2025 22:52

I never got on with tablets, found them too big to hold comfortably and too inconvenient for typing - I either use my phone or laptop.

RuthW · 08/06/2025 22:52

I have an ipad never use it now.
