My charge 4 has just broken and I need a new one. Would prefer not to spend too much but wondered what everyone has and recommends? I’ve looked at the charge 6 but seems like a lot for mixed reviews. (£118)

def wouldn’t spend more than that and would ideally prefer less. Needs to work with an iPhone.

thanks

Anyone?

Look on vinted. Loads of almost new ones on there.

PangolinPan · 01/06/2025 23:04

Since Google took over they've gone really downhill, lots of people complaining they break after coming out of warranty etc.

I now have a v basic Garmin and very happy with it.

I don't think any of the fit bits are amazing now, unfortunately

PickAChew · 01/06/2025 23:06

My charge 6 has lasted longer than any other but Google own them, now, and are slowly assimilating it and phasing it out. I shan't be replacing mine, even though I've had one since the first Charge (which fell off and got lost due to the stupid fastener) .

YourOnMute · 01/06/2025 23:25

I have a Samsung fit and I really like it. Moved from a charge.

Pinkflower100 · 02/06/2025 14:29

Thanks all. Do you wouldn’t recommend getting the charge 6? Do you think it will become unusable before it breaks? If spending £118 I’d want to be able to use it for a few years!

I was always fitbit, then got my daughter a cheap huawei band off vinted, and it was sooo nice and the battery lasted for ages I ended up getting myself a band 9 for £40 off amazon. I absolutely love it, the charge lasts around a week, my fitbit was wanting charging daily the last time I wore it. My cousin saw it and ended up buying herself one and one for her daughter too!

thornbury · 02/06/2025 14:43

Don't get a Fitbit. They have built in obsolescence and you'll be lucky to be using it in 18 months time. I went through 5 of them in about 7 years before I bought a Samsung Galaxy Watch (I have Samsung phone) - it's so much better and much more reliable. There are lots of fitness tracker alternatives that are really good and cheaper than Samsung/Apple watches.

clappydays · 02/06/2025 14:45

I’ve been a Fitbit fan for years but it all went downhill when they sold themselves to Google. They stopped a bunch of features (including the insanely popular races where you competed against friends for most steps in a week) and their customer service is awful. I think Google will be phasing Fitbit out. This is not what you asked (sorry!) but you might be better with a different brand.

Kittybelle123 · 02/06/2025 14:50

@Pinkflower100 Thank you for asking this! Since Google have taken over I’ve really noticed how downhill Fitbit has gone. I need an upgrade too as am having to constantly charge my current Fitbit, but I am reluctant to go back down the same route. Have an iphone but can’t justify the cost of an Apple Watch at the moment 😰

PickAChew · 02/06/2025 16:37

DH has been using Mii bands, which are much cheaper.

SleepyRooster · 02/06/2025 16:44

Fitbit is terrible now. The Charge I am
wearing now barely works. Saving for a garmin

Cheesybiscuitsmineallmine · 02/06/2025 16:53

Always used Fitbit but also noticed significant drop in quality. Now have a Garmin and very happy.

Pinkflower100 · 02/06/2025 16:54

I will look at a garmin but guessing they are more expensive so may be out of my budget.

YourOnMute · 02/06/2025 20:02

I tried a mii but I didn't like the app. It wasn't user friendly at all.
The Galaxy fit 3 was very reasonable, it's a cheaper edition to the full on galaxy smart watches. It does everything my Fitbit did. A bonus for me is I can use my Spotify through it so I can pause or skip when out walking. The app is very user friendly, information is presented well.

Straightjacketsandroses · 02/06/2025 20:05

I loved my Luxe and had the gold stainless steel band, but they break after 18 months. I’ve owned a couple and neither lasted two years. Plus, mine cracked after the band gave way and it fell off. Their customer service is diabolical too.

I caved and now have an Apple Watch

WhatsitWiggle · 02/06/2025 20:07

My fitbit luxe has a known fault rendering it unusable. After 9 years as a fitbit fan, I decided I wasn't prepared to spend upwards of £100 on a watch that couldn't be guaranteed to last more than 2 years.

I've switched to a Samsung Fit 3 but I have a Samsung phone. Still getting to grips with it (only 2 days in!) and it's larger than I would ideally like but it was £40 and has more features than the fitbit.

@YourOnMute is it the Samsung health app you use? Or something different?

YourOnMute · 02/06/2025 20:12

Yes the Samsung health app. I did find it took time to get used to but now I can navigate around it I can see my steps, heart rate in a session etc easily.
The only area that I suspect it's not very accurate is sleep but I don't think any of them are.
My Fitbit broke but it was the actual fitting that the strap stays on, so I needed to get a whole new watch. Apparently this is a fault with the charge and it annoyed me do much I changed.

IwantmyReptv · 02/06/2025 20:13

I didn't know fitbit was going. I've had mine for two years and love it.
I need to start saving for a Garmin don't I.

ImLikingIt · 02/06/2025 20:30

I really like my Charge 6. It has been used day and night for a few months and tracks my sleep more accurately than previous Garmins and other trackers which all thought I was awake when I was asleep, and is small enough to sleep in more comfortably than any other watch I’ve tried. It’s not perfect but definitely the best I’ve had and my health has improved as a result. You can get 6 months free Premium when you buy one taking some sting out of the cost. Available from all the big retailers inc John Lewis, never knowingly undersold.

Pinkflower100 · 02/06/2025 20:46

The Garmin is out of my price range unfortunately. The Galaxy - is it compatible with the iPhone? Its a better price. Gutted about the charge 6 though, I’m used to a Fitbit and thought that would be good but dont want it to be useless.

That’s what happened to my charge 4! I thought it just needed a new strap but the actual watch bit had broken and the strap wouldn’t fit anymore.

I changed from Fitbit to a Huawei Fit 3. Really happy with the battery life and the first features. £119 on Amazon.

No way would I ever buy another fitbit.

CottageGoblin · 02/06/2025 20:51

I wouldn’t buy another Fitbit. Definitely look into other smart watches

gamerchick · 02/06/2025 20:53

I've got a charge 5. I replaced my last 5 because the 6 is crap apparently.

However since Google took it over it's going downhill. Personally I think they've bought it to squash it so they can sell their own brand. Which I won't be buying on principle.

You're better off going for something that isn't a Fitbit. Definitely not the charge 6 anyway.
