To appeal my Vinted ban.

Probably not the correct board for this but I know it gets lots of traffic...
This isn't a big problem in the scheme of things but I'm really perplexed and frustrated that I have woken this morning to my Vinted account being permanently banned for apparently fraudulent activity. I am baffled! I've only ever sold a few bits of children's clothes that my children have outgrown, some dresses I no longer wear etc Nothing of high value just a couple of pounds here and there. I have only ever received 5* reviews as a buyer and a seller - probably about 50+ 5* ratings. I have never sold anything counterfeit, never sold prohibited items, have always paid for and sent items. It really is a mystery. The most annoying aspect of this is that there seems to be no way of actually speaking to customer services just an automated response help desk. I want to find out what i have supposedly done! Can anyone provide any insight? Has this ever happened to you?
For the sake of AIBU I guess I'm asking if it's unreasonable for me to try and appeal this to 'clear my name' or just accept this as the end of my pocket money...

Not sure if this applies to vinted but I was banned from another site for using a VPN. Ironically I was using it for work and our work laptops are permanently VPN'd. Could it be something like that?

Lmnop22 · 29/05/2025 22:17

Definitely appeal! Likely some scammer reporting that something wasn’t sent to try and get both the item and a refund. Hopefully if you’ve got delivery receipts/evidence of things being sent you can successfully appeal the decision!

Confusedmeanderings · 29/05/2025 22:18

I can't help, but I have been banned without actually buying or selling anything! I have absolutely no idea why. I just signed up to have a look and when I went back for another look I was banned.

I reckon algorithm glitch or mistake.

It's hard to get someone banned. I reported an account for selling fake Sezane clothes today. Vinted reported back to say they had disciplined the seller, but the clothes are still for sale...

banned from vinted | Mumsnet

Just posting to see if I’m the only one who has had this issue. Signed up to vinted last night with the hope of posting clothing items over the course...

I got banned for trying to sell something, I never did find out why.

RayOfRainbow · 29/05/2025 22:24

I spent ages appealing and it was frustrating. Said it was selling counterfeit goods. They then said post it with the original box- I had. Next email-with the receipt, pointed out again I had done so. Just email ping pong asking me to do what I had done already. Then some ID questions. Just made a new account in the end, very easy and quick solution

nebulae · 29/05/2025 22:30

This is why I never leave a balance sitting in my vinted account. Have read too many stories about people being banned for no apparent reason and losing all the money in their account. I always withdraw the balance straight away.

OneAgileTraybake · 29/05/2025 22:39

I got banned from Vinted for apparently sending abusive messages to other sellers - I’d only been on it a day and hadn’t even sent any messages!!

Loreli1983 · 30/05/2025 00:28

I wish there was some communication actually explaining what I am supposed to have done. I think this is what is annoying me the most!

I think this is why people are going back to eBay.

Thetraitor · 30/05/2025 00:46

YANBU at all — it’s completely reasonable to want to appeal and clear your name, especially with a spotless track record. Vinted’s customer service is notoriously hard to reach, but some users have had luck contacting them via social media (like Twitter/X or Facebook). It may also help to log a formal appeal through their help centre and keep replying until a human responds. Definitely worth pursuing — it sounds like a mistake, and your account deserves a proper review.

I was using VPN to watch something on Netflix that wasn’t available in the UK. When I tried accessing vinted, I got signed out as ‘I wasn’t accessing the app from the UK’ so I’m not sure if it’s a VPN. OP you should definitely appeal and ask for more info or contact their legal team [email protected]

Lifestooshort71 · 30/05/2025 07:58

It's like being ghosted by someone, you just want to know why!

alpinemoon · 30/05/2025 08:22

It happened to me too. My account got permanently blocked and I could never get a firm reason why.

Customer service was just automated responses.
I was selling kids old clothes and some of mine. Nothing more than £5-6. No high end brands!
Very frustrating. I sent lots of messages to them but they kept telling me I was banned for selling counterfeit items! I was selling stuff from Asda George, Next, Matalan! Not exactly Louis Vuitton.
Whats frustrating is there are hundreds of actual fake stuff on there and that doesn’t get removed.
I could never get an answer why they blocked me for apparently selling fake stuff when I wasn’t!

I gave up in the end trying to fight it but it is annoying as it was handy to make a few quid and also buy new stuff for the kids.

modgepodge · 30/05/2025 08:25

Can you sign up again using a different email address?

I recently sold some bits on eBay (not clothes hence I didn’t use vinted) and the process is now very similar to vinted, in terms of fees and postage and stuff (buyer pays for postage label etc). Might be worth switching to them.

Capillaryaction · 30/05/2025 08:36

I got banned because they decided an item I was selling was new, not used.
I appealed and ad was released.
They have very glitchy systems

I reported an account for selling Aliexpress shitty £1 earrings under much more expensive brands and got told they dont break community standards, when I appealed they said they made a mistake but oooops the item was sold so they cant do anything about it.

nebulae · 30/05/2025 13:52

I reported 4 separate items last week within a few minutes of each other, all trainers that were listed as "new without tags" but the descriptions said they'd been worn (each one more than once) and it was clear from the pictures that they weren't new. Two of the replies said the seller had been sanctioned, two said they didn't break the rules. No consistency at all.

ByWorthyLemonRaven · 30/05/2025 15:27

This same thing happened to me too! I found it quite upsetting / stressful and had no idea why it happened. They wouldn't communicate with me about it at all. I felt like a criminal... despite having only positive ratings and doing everything (I believe!) above board. It's horrible that they seem to have the right to be so heavy handed and not allow you to explain yourself for whatever it is they think you have done. I remember googling it at the time and lots of people seemed to have similar experiences. I didn't even know the avenue to appeal so I sort of gave up in the end, which is sad.

Same

Loreli1983 · 09/06/2025 22:40

Just updating incase anyone else comes across this problem. Vinted 'un -banned' me after 6 days. No explanation of what I had supposed to have done. Just an 'error' on their part apparently. It's definitely made me question how often I use it now...

I had similar. I'm so frustrated I signed up to Mumsnet just to complain about Vinted. Their customer service, fraud detection algorithms and complaints procedures are absolutely shocking. I'm comforted by the fact that they cannot last with such poor customer care. Quick version is I signed up to Vinted bought quite a few (19) items over about 10 days then kept getting messages about listing an item for sale so I tried it and was immediately banned for "fraudulent activity". I appealed and was asked to send pics which I did immediately - 25 pics including close ups of the item, zips, tags, logos care instructions, even the price tag and original receipt (It was a new jacket I bought cheap, never wore and decided to sell on). I then received a message from Vinted stating that as they had received no pictures my account was banned permanently with no option to respond or appeal. The message thread clearly shows the pictures I sent. I've spent the last week messaging them but just get automated responses or "as we have detected fraudulent activity on your account we cannot help...."
Now I've received some of the items I bought, 2 are fake 1 is the wrong item, 1 is severely not as described and 3 have not turn up at all but I cannot follow Vinted's returns procedure as my account is blocked and when I email Vinted I get "As we have detected fraudulent activity on your account we cannot help".
Very peeved but determined not to let it go. It's just wrong and not allowing me to return items is probably against my rights as a consumer. Today I sent them 16 emails. More planned for tomorrow.

JC70 · 18/07/2025 20:43

If anyone has any contact details for Vinted please post them here.
I've been using [email protected] and [email protected] but both are equally rubbish so far. A phone number would be lovely.
I've discovered they have an office in Covent Garden. Might pop in.
