To go on holiday anyway?

DH has just last night, announced he hasn't been authorised leave for May Half Term. We're due to go to Lake Garda.
I'm taking the kids and we're going on holiday without him. He's upset about it.

Well it's not my fault he didn't book it back in October when we booked it... And when I asked him in February time he said "yeah yeah, I'll sort it"
It's shame his flight is going to waste, but the accommodation is the same regardless.

Not my problem, surely? 🤷

Why does he want you to miss out too?

Snorlaxo · 02/05/2025 15:38

I would do the same as you.

Loveduppenguin · 02/05/2025 15:39

Uuuugggh why do some men act like this!? wtf! Why couldn’t he just book his A/L like a normal person?! I feel for you @TURNYOURCAPSLOCKOFF definitely go!!

TomatoSandwiches · 02/05/2025 15:40

StarTwirl · 02/05/2025 15:42

Why does he want you to miss out too?

Fuck knows. He's probably just upset he's missing out.

Id just call in sick if it was me

YANBU - it’s his own fault for not getting his arse in gear. I don’t pander to this shit. Have a great time OP, I was there last year - what part are you going to?

MumbleJumble123 · 02/05/2025 15:44

I’d definitely go (it sounds like you’re fine to take the kids by yourself).
Does he actually want you to all miss out because he was disorganized and didn’t book leave in time? I know that if we were in this situation then DH or I would want the other one to go.

Seawolves · 02/05/2025 15:44

So he wants you all to lose out because he didn't do what he should've done? Not to mention the money that would be lost! Nah, stuff that, he didn't book his AL in a timely fashion so this is on him.

toomuchfaff · 02/05/2025 15:44

Definitely go.

Wouldn't you just look at that, actions (or inactions) have consequences!

saveforthat · 02/05/2025 15:45

I don't think he wants to go which is why he didn't to book AL

CountryQueen · 02/05/2025 15:47

Definitely go. Lake Garda will be lovely at May half term. If you haven’t been to Movieland please go, it’s epic 🤣

CopperWhite · 02/05/2025 15:47

Is the selfish bastard expecting you not to go too?

Id be worried there was something he wants you out of the way for.

Comedycook · 02/05/2025 15:49

Surely it's better than one person misses out rather than everyone?

HoskinsChoice · 02/05/2025 16:09

TomatoSandwiches · 02/05/2025 15:40

What a cock.

This pretty much covers it. 🤣

Oh no, he wants to go. He loves it.
Just never bothered actually trying to book leave....

cestlavielife · 02/05/2025 16:10

Presumably he can go for the long weekend fly back Monday night

yeesh · 02/05/2025 16:10

such a knob, have a fab time 🕶️

Trickabrick · 02/05/2025 16:11

I’d 100% still go, what a plonker he is!

Itsjustnotthevibe · 02/05/2025 16:13

What an idiot! Have a lovely time won't you.

Kitkatfiend31 · 02/05/2025 16:15

Of course you go. His mistake so he misses out. Doubt he'll make the same mistake again!

DollydaydreamTheThird · 02/05/2025 16:23

Jaysus every post I'm reading at the moment is just about total male incompetence. Can't even complete basic tasks. Like a previous poster said go and have a great time doing WHATEVER you and kids want to do and definitely take ALL the photos. 😂

BethDuttonYeHaw · 02/05/2025 16:26

Enjoy. Hopefully he’s learned his lesson

That sounds almost as dickish as him

Moonnstars · 02/05/2025 16:29

If he knew you booked the holiday in October and you reminded him again in February to make sure he had booked the time off, then it is his own fault he is missing out.
You say he definitely wants to go, so I don't really understand why he didn't book leave before the holiday was even booked to ensure he got the time off.

YABU suggesting he calls in sick though, as that could be cause for disciplinary action or even dismissal if they found out that he was on holiday.
