To go out the front in pyjamas/dressing gown?

Daisiesandtulips · 30/04/2025 19:10

Aibu to go outside the front in my pyjamas or dressing gown to water the plants or put the bins out?

What about answering the door to the delivery in pyjamas?

Just interested to know peoples views on this.

I couldn’t care less about going out the front in my pyjamas. I would NOT go to the shops or school run in them though.

I am NOT someone who would go to shops in PJs but I definitely go to the door or even out to the bins in dressing gown. I'd say goodbye to kids at the door in PJs or dressing gown too

Agix · 30/04/2025 19:11

I go out the front in my PJs

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 30/04/2025 19:13

Wouldn’t leave the house in pyjamas to actually go somewhere but would open the door/nip in to the garden (for example putting the bin out)

Sminty2 · 30/04/2025 19:13

I wouldn’t but I wouldn’t judge either. Each to their own.

RichWithNoSelfControl · 30/04/2025 19:14

I regularly go to the shops and do school/nursery runs in my pyjamas.

Do whatever you want.

PaintDecisions · 30/04/2025 19:14

I walk the dog every morning between 8-8.15, just over to the grass space outside the house, so she can pee before I get in the shower. She refuses to pee in the garden. I refuse to get dressed for this.

I suspect the local school mums are horrified 😂

WWomble · 30/04/2025 19:14

I wouldn’t leave home but I would go out the front for bins etc.

madaboutpurple · 30/04/2025 19:16

I will answer the front door in my PJ's but do not go to the shops in them .Standards have to be kept.

Createausername1970 · 30/04/2025 19:16

I have no issue with you being on your own property in PJ's and dressing gown. I once had to run down the road in PJ's, dressing gown and fluffy slippers to try to catch the bin man as they were collecting a day early and I had forgotten. I often put the rubbish or recycling out or get the milk in in my PJs. I often drive to pick my son up from his Nightshift at 6.30 a.m. in my PJ bottoms and a hoody. I realise I will regret this on the day I break down

But I wouldn't generally leave the confines of my property in my PJs.

FedUpandEatingChocolate · 30/04/2025 19:18

I never used to, but now my youngest is at a special school and gets picked up at 7:20, yes I do!

Glitchymn1 · 30/04/2025 19:20

I would and have! I buy nicer pyjamas now🤣

Itchyblister · 30/04/2025 19:20

Has anyone in your life taken umbrage with you doing this op ?

Bikergran · 30/04/2025 19:21

Yep, just watered the garden and put the bin out in my dressing gown. Completely covered from neck to mid-calf, so perfectly decent. I was just so hot when I got home my nice cotton dressing gown called me!

DappledThings · 30/04/2025 19:22

Popping to the bins is totally different to going to the shop, school run etc. I do the former fairly often, never the latter

Surroundedbyfools · 30/04/2025 19:44

yes it’s absolutely fine,

I couldn’t care less if ppl wear pyjamas to the shops or whatever. What difference does it make to my life ! None !

Atarin · 30/04/2025 19:47

Why do you care?! We’re not your neighbours, and even they probably don’t even notice. What would you think about your neighbours doing this? Just go with that thought.

letsnotIRL · 30/04/2025 19:48

If I could get away with it I would wear my pjays everywhere all the time all day every day 😅

Same as you!!

Pleaseshutthefuckup · 30/04/2025 19:50

I do. I try wear relatively nice PJ's.

GroovyChick87 · 30/04/2025 19:51

I don't like going to the door in pyjamas but I would if I absolutely had to. Would never go out in them.

AGreatUsername · 30/04/2025 19:52

I do go out the front to sort recycling/bins in dressing gown, and answer the door, but I do feel shame when people see me in a dressing gown at lunchtime 🤣 (I am actually always dressed because I do both school runs and WFH but my house is always freezing!)

Phoebepeeby · 30/04/2025 19:52

Depends where you live maybe? No one would see me so not bothered. Maybe if I lived somewhere with loads of people overlooking me I might not stick my washing out in a little slip.

Samslaundry · 30/04/2025 19:55

Do what you want. Does anyone actually care? Especially the delivery man he's probably opened doors where the permeating smell of shit has wafted out. I've heard some stories from my friends who deliver takeaways. Trust me they ain't noticing the dressing gown

CharlotteCChapel · 30/04/2025 19:56

I wear nightdresses and go out to put stuff in the bin.

Tiedbutchorestodo · 30/04/2025 19:57

I would (and do) go into the garden in pyjamas and would probably answer the front door in them.

Definite no on going to the shops / school run in them. I’ve just asked my DD and she said she’d have been mortified if I’d taken her to the school gate in PJs and all the other parents would have judged.
