To go out the front in pyjamas/dressing gown?

Aibu to go outside the front in my pyjamas or dressing gown to water the plants or put the bins out?

What about answering the door to the delivery in pyjamas?

Just interested to know peoples views on this.

I couldn’t care less about going out the front in my pyjamas. I would NOT go to the shops or school run in them though.

Am currently in the garden in my pyjamas. I've watered the plants, hung some washing out (yes I know it'll get darked on soon 😂) and am now eating my dinner accompanied by cats and ducks. None of them care about the pyjamas 😁

The garden is far enough.

Garden, bins and answering door are all fine

kiwiane · 30/04/2025 20:22

It’s normal in my street; don’t go any further!

cherish123 · 30/04/2025 20:23

No. I would not. Perhaps if I realised I had forgotten to put the bin our if there was a delivery. I definitely would not water the plants in bedwear. I'd get dressed first.

grapesandmelon · 30/04/2025 20:24

Would depend on time.
Early morning/evening I wouldn't think twice to take the bins out or something in PJs.
Midday I would.

Was only talking about stuff like this today, especially as ‘fancy’ pyjamas are being worn to go ‘out out’ in (or, the style for going out clothes looks like fancy/silky PJs).

Can anyone tell me - when you/someone you know goes to the shop or school run in PJs are they the PJs they’ve worn to bed and they’ve got no pants/bra on, or are they hanging about the house PJs worn with underwear.

Not knowing for sure troubles me FAR more than it should!

roshi42 · 30/04/2025 20:28

I nip out to put the bins out in my knickers and t-shirt. Really came back to bite me when the door blew shut and I was locked out (I was pregnant too!) I had to shamefully run-shuffle all the way down my (very long) road to my friend who has a key (thankfully). Fortunately it was like 6am and only one early bloke walking his dog saw! 😳

DollydaydreamTheThird · 30/04/2025 23:40

Nah mate. PJs don't leave the house. I've been deathly ill and still managed to put clothes on to go to the hospital. I'll never do it. I'll be dead before I go out in PJs. 😂my DH thinks I'm a weirdo though.

notgoig2careanymore · 30/04/2025 23:46

I might wizz out to put the bins out in PJs but would never where night clothes in daytime.

GiroJim100 · 30/04/2025 23:51

Nothing wrong with what you’re suggesting OP. Agree that going to shops etc though like that is really grim.

Thisshirtisonfire · 01/05/2025 00:02

I've been to the shops in PJs when I was a student but I definitely wouldn't now days! I don't judge people who do tho.. they may have all manner of things going on.. it's not my business! As long as they've got their bits covered!

I absolutely do not understand people who insist on everyone being fully clothed for the day just to take a bin out or answer the door..

To be frankly honest I once went out to my parcel box in just my pants with a giant winter coat and wellies over the top 🤣 who's gonna know!!

Life is too short to have this much stress.

i think pyjamas are for bed/relaxing prior to bed. I could not stand the thought of wearing therm in public because I’d feel they had been sullied by atmospheric particles (like if you had to sit on a seat) and I could therefore not feel happy transferring particles of the outside world into my bed
