Did/do your Dcs grandparents buy them an Easter egg?

Bit late on this one! but curious

My grandparents always got us a large chocolate egg each Easter.

My parents came to us for lunch and an egg hunt, but no easter egg, Dm said she didn’t think about it.

Mine did, though it was a smallish bunny one -- pre-planned as DH did an egg hunt at their house so there was plenty overall.

PiL didn't get us anything but I didn't really expect it.

No. PIL did a hunt, my parents didn't but they live far away. My GPs never bought us any.

We didn't buy any this year either. DC already had (each) one from a recent visitor, one from church, one from SIL and one from my brother. Plus a load of small bits of chocolates and sweets from a high street trail thing. Very glad GPs didn't add to it. They've barely made a dent in what they did get.

I’m a Granny to a 16mth old. I wasn’t going to buy him an Easter egg because he doesn’t have chocolate as a rule, and I’d bought him a Little Dutch Toy instead. However, I bought MIL, who is recently widowed a Lindt bunny and when i got it home it was white chocolate 🙄 so I gave that to DGS, too, and bought her another one.

When he’s older I’ll buy him an Easter egg and probably present as well.

No, my parents gave each grandchild £10 each. They get enough Easter eggs from other family members and friends.
most of them are still in their boxes, unopened.

My DS is 20 and my mum still buys him several Easter eggs plus puts £20 in one if the boxes.

I asked him if he’s too old and he looked horrified

Yes my parents do still buy eggs even though my kids are adults.
They bought one for me and DH and also put a nice bit of cash in my bank account. I'm very thankful as uni accommodation fees are due for DS.

We (adult child and i) asked niece and nephew what their four children wanted. Money (niece and nephew are both keen on experience for their children) or Easter eggs. Both opted for money towards their next experience.

I still got my adult child a very adult egg, though. They don't need the money. I got chocolate too 😋

We (GPs) provided the eggs for the Easter egg hunt at our house. Dsis was visiting from overseas and had got her a lovely M&S chocolate and teddy gift set otherwise I would have got her something else too. DS and DIL got Lindt chocolate bunnies. I can’t imagine not buying GD an Easter egg - she got cuddly toys, bunnies etc, when she was too young for chocolate.

I bought my DGC a large garden Jenga set. That is what DD told me they would like. Neither of my DGC are that keen on chocolate. They get one Easter Egg from their parents. Last Easter I got them a football net for their garden.

One set bought us all a box full of chocolates as they think eggs are overpriced and would rather spend the same on more chocolate. The other bought each child an egg. I say child, my eldest is an adult but still gets the same as the others

Yes grandparents (and aunts/uncles) all buy Easter eggs for our kids, or give them cash/chocolate. This year they ended up with over £100 and 7 eggs each. We can’t all see each other at Xmas so Easter is a big get together.

No. On years we celebrate together they help with luncheon and there are always plenty of delicious things to eat and chocolate to go around.

I've never really questioned it - I grew up in a very religious American home and so have never associated Easter as a gift-giving holiday of any sort (I've left my religious upbringing behind but I must say I still find the idea of handing out cash on Easter as some people do rather horrifying). Then I married into a Scottish family that never made eggs or other Easter gifts a big thing the way some people seem to. DH and I buy an egg for each DC because we're their parents and that's what seemed normal to DH, and then they do a plastic egg hunt.

Did you really ask your mother why she didn't bring gifts for your DD on Easter? That's rather bold IMO.

DD18 was sent money in lieu of an Easter Egg by my mum. DM still sends money to her GC despite them all being grown up!

The grandparents do if they're around. I don't think it's needed as there's so much chocolate around already.

As kids we never got anything from extended family, including GPs, so I don't expect it.

My PIL never gave Easter eggs to any family. It just wasn't something they ever did. My DP bought our DC clothes at water then maybe have a small bag of mini eggs. My own GP always bought us our summer sandals at Easter and gave us a very small egg. I guess families all do different things.
