Hi OP. I'm sorry to hear this. Sertraline is brilliant at reducing anxiety and low mood once its in the system but you will still feel the usual feelings in upsetting or traumatic situations. For example when my FIL died in a traumatic way I still felt all the appropriate emotions. Please try not to let it distract you from continuing. I do wonder if an evening dose might be better for you for facing the day. Maybe ask your GP?

We are here rooting for you x

Thank you. I have a review next week with my GP so I will mention about the daytime low mood and anxiety. Would taking it at night help during the day?

I honestly dont know. It's why I take it and also makes me sleepy but you must check with the GP. X

Hello 👋 I have had a really rough week, however today has been a little better. I've seen some little (very subtle) improvements, my mum and partner have noticed too. I know tomorrow could be bad, but at least today has been a little brighter. This morning was awful still! I know it's early days still though and I have a review with my GP on Thursday. Thank you so much for asking 😊 how are you doing?x

You’ll have the odd good day to begin with.
Then you’ll have as many good days as bad days. Then you’ll have hardly any bad days ❤️

Hey OP-just checking in to see how you are getting on?

Hello thank you for checking in. Unfortunately I've not been good. I had a slight accident and ended up at a&e. I'm ok but it's been a week or panic and anxiety and hospital trips. So it's set me back. I hope you're well x

OP posts:
abracadabra1980 · 18/05/2025 20:24

Oh OP I'm sorry that's happened. I hope you are healing well... thanks for the thread update.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 18/05/2025 22:46

Hi OP sorry to hear this. The hospital is such a stressful place whether you have anxiety or not. Thankyou for updating us. Really hope you get a new level of breakthrough soon x

Francis24 · 24/05/2025 09:56

Hello everyone. I'm feeling a little desperate. I'm 6 week in. 4 week into my dose increase on 50mg. I'm feeling so so low and depressed still and I keep getting anxious and panicky. Is it still early days?

OP posts:
Hillsmakeyoustrong · 24/05/2025 10:02

Hi @Francis24 I'm very sorry to hear you are still struggling. Have you made an appointment with your GP to discuss an increase?

50mg is the lowest therapeutic dose (25mg is for weaning on and off) and I think 200 is the highest. My DH had to go up to 100 or 150 (can't exactly remember) and my SIL had to go to 200. I was fine on 50 but some days could have done with more but decided to stick at 50. It sounds like you need a higher dose.

Hello. I have a gp appointment in 2 weeks to discuss it as she wanted me to be on 50mg for at least 6 weeks. I've not been at work this whole time and I'm just laying in bed a lot so I don't think the lack of structure or any routine is helping either x

I maybe need a higher dose.y GP said roughly 6-8 on any dose to stabilize more x

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 24/05/2025 15:34

@Francis24 my personal opinion is that you ask to bring the appointment forward to next week if possible. That's then 5 weeks, just a week short. I'm not medical at all but having quite a bit of first and second hand experience of sertraline, I'd expect you to be feeling some improvement by now. Even a small one. You are describing very debilitating symptoms and I think more support should be offered. Can you see a different GP?

ColdTofuSandwich · 24/05/2025 18:25

Yes I agree - you need to increase your dose. Also, and this is horribly hard, try and get your own routine. Set an alarm. Try and get showered. Have a walk. Have some good food. I am anxious in the morning still on 150mg but I know if I get up I feel better. If I get dressed and have a cup of tea I feel better. It’s so tempting to stay in bed but that means my anxiety hangs around much longer.

Firsttimehopful · 02/06/2025 08:34

Hello everyone, I really don't know what is going on. I'm 5.5 week into an increase on 50mg 7.5 week in total. My evenings are better, does that mean it starting to work? My mornings are still bad but was maybe starting to pick up a little last week but this morning the adrenaline rushes in my arms are nauseous is back. I feel so tired and have headaches. I know it's side effect still as my body is probably adjusting still. I know it can take longer for people. Last week I managed to go out every day with my mum or partner. I was happy happy but I was engaging more and chatting slightly more and I was shopping but actual had an interest in the things was looking at. I'm eating and I was starting to sleep slightly better. Can you have a slightly better week followed by worse again? Its so up and down. I shower red every day last week too. I get hay fever and been that "time of the month" so all these thing could add up. Any advice? I'm with my GP on Thursday
