DD prom footwear help needed

Sorry I'm not sure this is the best place to post but I couldn't find a topic on attire dilemmas & issues.

DD has prom coming up. Needs shoes to fit the following brief:

  1. Silver shade (but not a 'tacky silver')
  2. Platform with heel (as DD short hence heel but doesn't want really sore feet hence platform)
  3. Ideally block heel, or wedge heel
  4. Ideally closed toe or toe coverage (as DD self-conscious about toes due to past surgeries)
  5. Would suit a wider foot
  6. Don't look middle aged

We have the dress but getting nowhere on shoes so can't get dress tailored to her height yet. DD is getting v stressed over this & it might not take much to tip her over the edge on top of exam stress.

I'm loosing hours looking at the same places finding nothing new.

Can anyone save us from frumpy shoes / meltdown (hers & mine) / loss of my evenings searching online?

If you can you're a better shopper than me!

Plus I will love you forever!!!

Budget flexible, would prefer a modest cost as unlikely to be worn again but I am willing to spend a healthy amount to get this right for her.

Thank you so much.

Quiz - online lots of choice and cheap

Pleasegodgotosleep · 11/04/2025 21:02

Platform trainers? My neice had her prom and every single girl without exception wore trainers with their dresses.

lostinabook · 11/04/2025 21:04

Simply be!

LoremIpsumCici · 11/04/2025 21:05

Arg really depends what her friendship group think is cool. My elder DD likes vintage heels and would have likely done a flapper 1920s pair, but my younger DD would have found a crazy pair of sparkly trainers with a Pokémon badge.

Aboutmeabouttime · 11/04/2025 21:06

Trainers… loads of the girls will wear them, and she’ll wear them again!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/04/2025 21:10

Is she a 4 or 5?
Silver DMs ?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/04/2025 21:14

too high?

TheMeatyDrop · 11/04/2025 21:15

@wickwood all very much open toe unless I missed something

@lostinabook I'll look there thanks

I'd love glitzy trainers for her but I don't think her friends are doing this & she won't want to be different. She's a girly girl given the chance.

Have a look at koi footwear. Quite niche but some of their platforms are great

She is a 5! Plus I get student discount here alas she'd not want DMs

We've just bought some sparkly trainers that have a slight platform from Carvela.

Just Lemonade has some lovely shoes too.

Namechangetry · 11/04/2025 21:22

I was going to say new look - DD is an unusual size and we got 9 pairs of silver prom shoes to try on from new look, they've lots of choice

babytum · 11/04/2025 21:23

Shein have loads. If you google closed toe silver platforms you will see loads of options. I haven’t bought footwear off SHEIN but a friend of mine has and is happy with what she got so worth a look.
Also came across a nice pair on Very, not platform but a nice heel

When DD shopped for prom shoes (admittedly a few years ago) by far the best was New Look, surprisingly. Big choice and she had a list similar to your DD’s (silver, closed toe, not too high) It’s worth trying on for shoes imho.

Really, how weird. At both my daughter's (last year and 3 years ago) everyone wore fancy heels, though I think a lot got taken off for dancing. My daughter danced all night in massive chunky heels though.

RosesAndHellebores · 11/04/2025 21:29

If the dress is floor length, could you do a cheap.pair of espadrilles and spray paint them?

DD just scoured the local.charity shops.

DownWhichOfLate · 11/04/2025 21:30

Definitely need to be silver? What colour is her dress?

AprilShowers25 · 11/04/2025 21:34

Asos have a few closed toe pairs, I quite like these ones
