DD prom footwear help needed

Sorry I'm not sure this is the best place to post but I couldn't find a topic on attire dilemmas & issues.

DD has prom coming up. Needs shoes to fit the following brief:

  1. Silver shade (but not a 'tacky silver')
  2. Platform with heel (as DD short hence heel but doesn't want really sore feet hence platform)
  3. Ideally block heel, or wedge heel
  4. Ideally closed toe or toe coverage (as DD self-conscious about toes due to past surgeries)
  5. Would suit a wider foot
  6. Don't look middle aged

We have the dress but getting nowhere on shoes so can't get dress tailored to her height yet. DD is getting v stressed over this & it might not take much to tip her over the edge on top of exam stress.

I'm loosing hours looking at the same places finding nothing new.

Can anyone save us from frumpy shoes / meltdown (hers & mine) / loss of my evenings searching online?

If you can you're a better shopper than me!

Plus I will love you forever!!!

Budget flexible, would prefer a modest cost as unlikely to be worn again but I am willing to spend a healthy amount to get this right for her.

Thank you so much.

These are very spendy but the style meets the brief and there should be similar elsewhere or Vinted.

It's a shame she doesn't want DMs. I know a few girls wearing them under long dresses this year, but we are simple country folk.

Another recommendation for esska shoes, expensive but worth it and do wide fitting. Only shoes I can wear pain free. Look on vinted for them.

FondantFancyFan · 12/04/2025 07:43

Check on vinted for Esska, lots on there so scroll through.

FYI- mumsnet has a style and beauty board although some of the suggestions might have been £££!

Primark has loads of silver and gold shoes last year might be worth a look

Purpl · 12/04/2025 08:53

Also simi shoes online or Linzi

Twin dds here who had their prom last year. We bought 3 pairs of heels between them, one from Cider, New Look and Primark. 2 black, one silver. None of them got worn & they both wore Converse. To be honest you could barely see them under the dresses anyway & they felt comfortable and themselves. I'd go cheap if she's adamant on heels personally.

My daughter and all her friends are wearing nike dunks or adidas gazelles/sambas that match the colour of their dresses. So much easier! Id suggest to her something flat if she isnt used to heels, theres loads of ballet flats around if she doesnt like the trainers idea. Failing that, id just go looking in primark, newlook etc so she can try them on, but i def think trainers is so much easier for them and a night dancing with their friends!
