Anyone else have ridiculous crush?

Secretbestkept · 08/04/2025 19:56

I know IBU so im not even going to vote but does anyone else have a workplace crush that is completely pointless but just make the day go a bit faster?
He is married, I am married, he has children, I have children- there are no pointers that there is any attraction there or flirting so not going down that route.
I just find myself looking forward to him walking into my office (my office is ‘base’ and we have an in/ out whiteboard) , I seem to sit up straighter … make sure I’ve not got a mouthful of something 😂 , and smile more when he’s chatting to me.

Its absolutely ridiculous and I’m sure he doesn’t think twice about the whole thing so surely no harm done and I’m not the only middle aged something women with the same scenario?

Pedro Pascal

The head of Early Years at my kids' school. The most beautiful human I have ever seen.

MrsEndeavourMorse · 08/04/2025 20:09

My gardener. We're both single but unfortunately he doesn't like me

Aw that's a pity, change your gardener 🤗

Meadowflower2023 · 08/04/2025 20:16

My optician. I’ve been seeing him for almost ten years. He’s gay so wouldn’t be interested in me anyway.

PrincessofWells · 08/04/2025 20:16

A person from my sport club - I've got it bad . . . 😒

alwaysdeleteyourcookies · 08/04/2025 20:18

The building maintenance guy. He's married so a complete no-go. But yeah.

NCbecauseofalltheweirdos · 08/04/2025 20:20

I used to. Wrong thread

Firenzeflower · 08/04/2025 20:22

Brandon Sklenar.

Crushes are fun.

Tooty78 · 08/04/2025 20:29

Chris Pratt in the new film Electric State film, he has longer curlier hair and a porn star moustache.😍

Georgesgerbil · 08/04/2025 20:31

Ha! This was me OP! Total crush on work married colleague! Think it was some peri-menopausal super charged sex drive thing. . I think he quite liked me too. We had such a laugh! But it was totally safe as nothing would ever happen. It was weird as I didn’t even want to have sex with him, but still had this massive sexual crush. I can’t explain it but I still enjoyed it.

Changed jobs and now have huge crush on a guy at the gym who I also think has a mild thing for me. Again, nothing will ever happen but it’s a nice fun background thing to have. Except this guy I would totally shag it he was single. He’s really fit! He’s not though, so I won’t and we aren’t relationship material even if he were single.

ClioMuse · 08/04/2025 20:36

Ah tis part of being human - and for me being menopausal and a bit bored with life.

Butchyrestingface · 08/04/2025 20:41

Glen Powell is my Man of the Moment.

Is that a ridiculous crush? Everyone says he’s got wee, squashed eyes and looks like a capybara.

But I’ve had a soft spot for Texan cowboys ever since JR threw a T-bone steak at Sue Ellen down at the ranch.

Hollowvoice · 08/04/2025 20:49

Yes. No flirting or anything, and less than zero chance I'd do anything even if there was but he appears in my dreams sometimes...😊

Secretbestkept · 08/04/2025 20:50

I’m glad it’s not just me!
I see it as completely harmless and perks me up for no logical reason at all
we were having a very normal and boring conversation about the offer on his house being accepted and the faff of surveying- absolutely nothing flirty at all but when he smiles I feel like a school girl getting all giggly

The reception class primary school teacher at my kid's school. Was gutted when she left! I'm not even a lesbian but she was stunning!!

He's good at his job too if you've been seeing him so clearly for 10 years 😂

Never heard of him but had to Google to see how one could possibly look like a capybara 😂. I kinda see what they're saying but he'd not bad. Mine is Damiano David. Almost half my age.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 08/04/2025 20:56

I get ridiculous crushes on famous people, and not always the “frivolous” kind of famous people you should get a crush on.

Have also been known to get crushes on historical characters which is really weird and I hate it when that happens.

Apologies for reviving this thread, but I wanted to share one of these without starting a new one (I'm a middle aged (45) man so hope that's ok)

Several weeks ago, during my regular coffee outing with DW, we noticed a woman about 55ish with a bookish look - neatly twisted-up hair, thick black-framed glasses, and an elegant look as she read. We've seen her a few times since, as the same crowd tends to be about weekly.

I can't seem to shake a crush on her with various thoughts of her popping into my head randomly throughout the day. It's absurd, as it's purely a fantasy I'd never act on, but I expected it to fade by now and it hasn't which is unusual for me!

What do you folks normally do with these, just not overthink it and let it run it's course?

That is exactly what he looks like now that you mention it.😀

However my minor celebrity crush is much odder. Philip Mould, sixtysomething camp scarf-wearing art dealer who presents Fake or Fortune. Looks a bit like Charles Dance’s less evil shorter brother.

Well, are you single? Do you want to pursue this?

Married with no intention of pursuing anything, it's just taken me by surprise and doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing I'm intrigued by the historical figures - who have you had crushes on?
