Anyone else addicted to sunshine?

rosedahlialily · 27/03/2025 15:35

I think I have an addiction to sunlight/ sunshine. Obviously we live in the UK and don’t get a lot of it year round, but when I see some sunshine on my weather app, I’m obsessed with being able to spend as much time as possible out in it. I worked outside the entire day yesterday to try and soak it up. If someone asks me to do an indoor activity on a sunny day, I have to decline or feel genuinely upset if I have to do it. When the sun hits my face I feel so energised and happy.
Do I have a problem!? Does anyone else feel this way?

I feel it too, I think it’s the lovely feeling everywhere, the good humour, the brightness, the loveliness, but hilariously at night I can’t wait until it’s time to shut the curtains so I revert to being a winter person!!!

Ilovecakey · 27/03/2025 15:37

Yes I feel the same and always want to get out when it's sunny and it makes me feel happier

garlictwist · 27/03/2025 15:44

Oh my God, me. I am obsessed with it. Currently sitting on the spare bed as it’s the only patch of sun in the house (saying that, it’s just gone in). I feel so much happier in the sun. It’s going to chuck it down all weekend where I live (cumbria) so not very happy.

Maitri108 · 27/03/2025 15:45

No, not a fan. I don't react well to the heat.

This made me chuckle. I will always find the last sliver of sunshine too! I have to eek out every moment

Yes. I'm the same. Though better since I've taken vit D all year round.

What about a cold sunny winters day? Heaven!
although I do love the summer

Yesterday was a perfect day. I feel like a different person when the sun is out.

Ponderingwindow · 27/03/2025 15:50

No. Being in the sun for even a few minutes can give me a sunburn and make me feel sick for hours or days. I hate the damn star.

I have fantasies of becoming a super-villain and blocking it out forever. I just want to be an intelligent super-villain and figure out a way to do that while also keeping the plants and animals alive.

so instead I go online and do things like research the foggiest places in the world and fantasize about moving.

Comedycook · 27/03/2025 15:51

Yes me too op. Nothing I hate more than a grey day

Gardenista · 27/03/2025 15:53

The same! I’m like a yo-yo trying to catch the sun! If I could see my laptop in the sunshine I’d be working from the garden

zeddybrek · 27/03/2025 15:54

Me too! I am obsessed with checking the 10.day weather forecast. The difference in my mood is huge and everything feels better with a bit of sunshine. My life revolves around finding a way to escape the grey of winter. Haven't found the answer yet but I'll take the current glorious rays of sun!

SulkySeagull · 27/03/2025 15:55

The sun literally gives us life, there’s a reason why we are drawn to it!

ISpendFarTooMuchOnFood · 27/03/2025 15:56

Yesterday and day before was sunny and mildly warm. Got loads done. Lots of washing out, gardening, went to Dobbies to buy plants, hoovering, admin jobs. Today grey and raining and I am in a bad mood, feel unwell and am stuck in waiting for deliveries. I have no energy and feel grumpty AF.

Never used to effect me so much but the older I get the more it seems to. I don't need roasting hot, but sun just cheers you up. I love winter days too when they are crisp but sunny.

3 days of rain here and then back to Sun on Sunday. Thank bleedin god.

weegiemum · 27/03/2025 16:03

Love it, and often end up competing with the dog for a sunny spot in the house.
Why do I live in Scotland?

MagpiePi · 27/03/2025 16:03

I’m the same. I always feel more cheerful when it’s sunny.

Aggieaggieaggie · 27/03/2025 16:05

Me! Before 2013 I was definitely a Winter cosy person. Suddenly I noticed I was developing SAD each year and it’s been getting worse each time. 2024 I found myself in a very dark place 😞

I’ve been trying to work out how to move to a sunnier climate. My whole family want to relocate! Too old for Australia & muchos confused at the visa / red tape for South France! US is a no.

😭 I just love the sun. It melts away all the the “badness”. I feel completely different when it’s sunny. So do my DC.

We’re in Cornwall and it’s persistently grey - even if the forecast says bright sunshine it’s usually overcast.

Have you thought of Portugal!? Not too far and lots of expats and good visa options ☺️

Moonlightfrog · 27/03/2025 16:09

This is me too. It’s cloudy today and I feel a bit depressed. When the suns out I want to be outside and I feel so happy. Pretty sure I do have SAD but I also just love being out in the sun. I would live somewhere sunny if I could afford it.

Aggieaggieaggie · 27/03/2025 16:12

@rosedahlialily I’ll have a look! Thank you ☺️ we spent £60 to get into Eden Project recently just to sit in the med biome and pretend like we were on holiday 🤣🤣🤣

Jennifershuffles · 27/03/2025 16:16

🌞yes🌞 I think it's about 50% of my mood

I feel so energised when the sun is out, I love it!

shellyleppard · 27/03/2025 16:19

I was sat in the garden with numerous cats for two hours this morning.....bliss

DinoLil · 27/03/2025 16:19

I'm the opposite.

I prefer the dark evenings, rain, gloom. All the reasons to stay indoors, safe and cosy.

The light nights and sunshine piles so much pressure on. Pressure to go out, to do stuff. Hate it.
