What do you think about these bridesmaids dresses

So I had decided I would do petrol blue bridesmaids dresses with a few girls wearing blue and white floral dresses.

However, my head has been turned by these navy dressses. Ordinarily I would say navy is a shit color for a summer, daytime wedding. But my head has been turned. My flowers are going to be long stem roses - various shades of white, cream, blush pink with a tiny bit of green.

This particular shade of navy is really speaking to me!

I think I might just be subconsciously over trying to find the right floral bridesmaid dress though

I'm not keen, sorry OP. Dare I say they look a bit cheap. They also look like the kind of dress a guest might end up wearing.

Pis · 22/03/2025 11:36

It doesn’t really match the petrol blue I picked as my wedding colour but I feel like my wedding is quite neutral. My wedding colour doesn’t really feature anywhere tbh

I like them, the kind of dress you can the wear again rather than wear once and shove to the back of the wardrobe.

Cynic17 · 22/03/2025 11:41

I think navy is very chic for a wedding, but the styles of those dresses are not to my taste. If you are getting married in church, they would definitely need to be more modest and covered up.

saveforthat · 22/03/2025 11:42

Is that Meghan Markle on the left?

BumbleBeegu · 22/03/2025 11:44

I like navy…it’s a classic colour and goes well with your flower colours. However, I don’t like these particular dresses. They look like something you might pick up on Shein (ok if this is your vibe, but not if you are wanting it to look classy).

LoveWine123 · 22/03/2025 11:46

It is a classy, neutral colour. I like it. It also means your bridesmaids can wear these dresses on other occasions.

Pis · 22/03/2025 11:48

I only think booby dress is inappropriate. I think the rest are totally fine for a church

What do people think about Navy for the daytime in the height of Summer

A bit dark for me but the dress designs are nice 😊

RaraRachael · 22/03/2025 11:55

I like them. I always wanted navy bridesmaids dresses but as I got married in the 80s it was pastels all the way.
People are so lucky now to be able to have whatever colours they want.

Londonmummy66 · 22/03/2025 12:05

I like the colour but not the dresses - Monsoon have a decent range of navy bridesmaid dresses at the £100-150 mark (some have floral embroidery).

wandawaves · 22/03/2025 12:06

I like the navy.
But then I googled what petrol blue was, and i love that!
I don't know what you mean about the floral though? Were you going to have some solid petrol blue, and some floral?
I don't think a floral for a bridesmaid is good. I think it'll age terribly in photos too.

I don't think the fact that it's summer matters to the colour choice.

So yeah exactly what you wrote a mix of petrol blue and floral. I’ve seen it done with a sage green colorway and thought it looked nice.

The petrol blue image I’ve attached is to show the shade of blue I like not the style of the dress.

I think it breaks up the wall of blue. I am by no means an expert.

Those specific dresses - No.
Navy - Yes.
My cousin had a big church wedding years ago and the bride looked stunning in ivory lace with pearl detailing in front of her bridesmaids and MoH who were all in satin navy.

wandawaves · 22/03/2025 12:16

How many bridesmaids are you having?

YouRemindMe0fTheBabe · 22/03/2025 12:16

My bridesmaids wore navy at my summer wedding. My husband's family tartan is blue tones so I chose it to tie in with that. I didn't even think about whether the colour matched the season. They looked beautiful and made a striking contrast with my ivory dress. No regrets.

DialSquare · 22/03/2025 12:21

ASOS is worth a look for bridesmaid dresses. I like this one.

My daughter wore navy as my adult bridesmaid, it’s a gorgeous colour for a wedding and looks striking in photos

verysmellyjelly · 22/03/2025 12:25

I think navy can be absolutely stunning for bridesmaids, but agree with PP, definitely not those dresses!

Jeschara · 22/03/2025 12:29

I like the one on the right facing the end one, smart, can be worn again and appropriate for the occasion, the others are lovely but would not be my choice for a wedding.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 22/03/2025 21:54

I'd go with the petrol blue just because it's something different! I've literally been a navy blue bridesmaid twice. But if you do go for navy blue, the dresses in your image look cheap af. I'm sure the posters of MN can find some nicer ones.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 22/03/2025 23:39

Like the couple but those anyway dresses are generally made out of shite material and don’t look great in real life

I think they r lovely. But they look black which is a no no. If you could.find them in a lighter navy, or even different colour, then yeah!

Other point is, these look like gorgeous models. If your bridesmaids look like this I'm sure the dresses will be fab. But they look like the kind of dresses that, if worn by us normal looking folk, might not fit too well and might look a bit cheap... But I don't know how stunning your bridesmaids are!

Mermaidsarereal · 23/03/2025 16:11

Love the colour but not the styles (sorry!) I had navy at my wedding last year and bought the bridesmaids cream roses as bouquets and they looked lovely. I would recommend JJ's House and Ever Pretty for dresses.
