My wedding is 5 months away and I have had 3 appointments and not found anything. I’m so worried.

Looking for reassurance.

Im not looking for anything super custom/over the top. Happy either way off the shelf

About nine months beforehand is when I chose it. Picked it up about a month before. Now listed on vinted 😂. I did get married in it btw.

Doublechins · 18/03/2025 19:34

7 weeks before I just bought off the rail

whoatherenellie · 18/03/2025 19:36

Just buy one off the peg/ex sample/secondhand. Wedding dress prices are a con - they lose 90% of their value the instant you buy them. You could pick up a dress secondhand for a fraction of what they cost new and it will only have been worn once, or sometimes not at all and there's no waiting time.

I’m so stressed right now my brain has stopped working. By off the rail do you mean you just picked one out that was on the shop floor?

I have no problem with doing this, just struggling to find anything I like

2 months before the wedding ... I am a very last minute person. Dress was fully custom made in Vietnam and shipped to me.

Got exactly what I wanted. A perfect fit and very cost effective!

What size are you?

Cnidarian · 18/03/2025 19:40

Do you have a vision in mind that you can't find, or do you not know what you want? The answers are going to differ depending on the reason n9thing has not the bill so far.

strangerontheinternet · 18/03/2025 19:41

9 months before. It took 2 months to arrive then my alterations are starting 12 weeks before.

Cees Bridal in Ho Chi Minh City.

I know I want to keep it simple and not puffy/stiff/formal. No cinderella dress for me. I like a column dress with a slight train I have realised (I think). I want a romantic, not too try hard look. If that makes sense. I have big boobs so a style which flatters ie no high necks. I don’t mind lace as long as it is more of a detail ie a trim and not the main feature. I want to feel very natural. Probably not strapless.

I ordered my dress 6 weeks before my wedding. The shop commented that it was “cutting things fine” but it was ok. Collected the dress 2 weeks before the big day. Also those 6 weeks included Christmas/new year so it probably was cutting it fine on reflection. Go and try on dresses and try not to add pressure on yourself. Charity shops also often have wedding events on so can be worth a look as they’ll be bargain prices for dresses that have often never been worn!

No pressure. Bit cheeky. But mines a 12 and I could do with it going to a new home so I don't have to take it when I move house.

Does anyone a bit more in the know know a better way to describe the style of dress I have shared - a line?

2025willbemytime · 18/03/2025 19:57

It's short sleeved, straight with a very slight train. Trying to see if I can upload a photo.

Rumpapapum · 18/03/2025 19:58

Book your alterations now. There will be waiting lists for summer weddings. It’s better to have it booked and not need it than find your dream dress and no slots to alter it before.

Sunshineat5pm · 18/03/2025 19:59

If you’re London / South East based I’d thoroughly recommend Brides Do Good - off the rack but designer gowns with a % going to charity (mission to reduce childhood marriage).

I bought my Pronovias dress there. It was far superior in quality than I could have afforded from a ‘standard’ boutique, no wait time and a great social impact model.

All new / sample higher end designer dresses. Huge number of options too for size 10/12.

Readeatcake · 18/03/2025 20:01

About 5 months before, I went to wed2be.
You take the dress on the day you buy it, off the rack and most are less than 1k

2chocolateoranges · 18/03/2025 20:03

We got engaged and married within 5 months! We decided there was no need to wait, I ordered my dress at the end of Jan and got married end of April.

however it was nothing extravagant but perfect for me.

mlc0 · 18/03/2025 20:04

Thers · 18/03/2025 20:14
