When did you order your wedding dress?

My wedding is 5 months away and I have had 3 appointments and not found anything. I’m so worried.

Looking for reassurance.

Im not looking for anything super custom/over the top. Happy either way off the shelf

I got my dress off the rack in August for an October wedding. Pretty last minute but we weren’t sure if we would even be able to get married because it was during Covid times.

About 11 months before. You could go to Wed2Be as they are off the rack.

Are most wedding dresses not off rack?

have you looked on Vinted? I tried dresses on in 2 shops, one local and one wed2be, and they assumed I’d want to chose a dress which they’d then make to order i my measurements, which does take time, however you can also chose any dress ‘off the peg’ that people try on, and get a seamstress to alter it to fit you in height etc. Vinted and eBay are worth looking at, just make sure you have found a good seamstress with availability

6 weeks and I collected it a week later as I had to have it shortened.

We decided to get married and picked a date 6 months later. I think I chose my dress about 4-5 months before wedding. I went to one shop with the intention of trying on something I’d seen in a photo and ended up with something completely different that I wouldn’t have glanced at on hanger or picked myself. My best advice is to let the person in shop pick you a dress, they absolutely know what they’re doing.

ETA: once my dress was ordered, it arrived within a few weeks and only really needed length adjusted. Please don’t panic 😊
