To be hungry (and grumpy) 5 hours from eating kui?

WhatGoesHere · 17/03/2025 20:59

I eat breakfast at 7:15/30am, lunch at 12:30, so 5 ish hours between, no issues. But... If I'm not eating dinner by 5:30, 6pm at the absolute latest... I'm such a grumpy cow. Is this normal?

I can't work out what the difference is? It's the same time between meals?

Maybe I should just have a biscuit or banana or something at 4 to tide me over?

I don't know what kui is -- a food item or an eating system? can you explain please?

Createausername1970 · 17/03/2025 21:03

What do you eat for lunch? If it's quite carby, sandwich based for example then you could try adding in a bit of good fat/protein.

Fat and protein fill you up, so you feel fuller on a smaller portion. Carby sugary stuff can cause a spike in your blood sugar, which means you can get hungry quicker.

So maybe change your lunch or have a good snack about 4.00.

TheChosenTwo · 17/03/2025 21:06

What’s kui?
Can’t really say if it’s normal or not normal, I tend to have lunch at about 1 and then dinner at about 8. If I wanted a snack I’d have it when I wanted it but I don’t like an early dinner and 5:30/6 would be way too early for me.

Notonyourjelly · 17/03/2025 21:07

@SiobhanSharpe I googled kui -

"Kui is a half-ox, half-dragon being that can create melodious sounds and bring peace and tranquility"

So quite a substantial meal.

WhatGoesHere · 17/03/2025 21:31

Oh god... It's supposed to say Lunch 🤣🤣

A kui is for life, not just for lunch.

Err -- thank you. That's a relief, kui certainly sounds a tad filling.

LunaNorth · 18/03/2025 03:36

If’s probably the kui-hunting process that’s using more energy, thus making you hungrier before dinner.

Try taking a couple of bananas - one for energy, one to lure the kui with.

coffy11 · 18/03/2025 03:40

Try having snacks in between your meals. I can't go more than a few hours before eating.

BoxOfCats · 18/03/2025 04:23

I'd be grumpy if all I'd eaten was kui too.

iseenyouwithkefir · 18/03/2025 04:32

If you've eaten an ox-dragon, then I think that there is some kind of stark, bleak, Greek Mythology-style justice in your having been turned into a cow.

Deerrobin · 18/03/2025 05:58

Depends on what you’re having for breakfast / lunch but adding a bit more protein and/or a protein based snack mid-afternoon snack might be a good shout.

CharlotteBakewell · 18/03/2025 06:04

Release the Kui…

Londonrach1 · 18/03/2025 06:06

Where did you find the kui op?

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 18/03/2025 06:12

As Kui would be I suppose very high in protein I’m surprised you are hungry after eating. It depends on how much you actually ate. Or is it like the famous MN chicken?

Serpentstooth · 18/03/2025 06:16

Get a couple of Unicorn Snax OP and keep them in your bag. Very filling.

Eachpeachpearprune · 18/03/2025 06:19

This is hilarious 😆
But to answer your intended question…

I eat at 7.30, 12.30 and 5 (mainly due to kids but I’m always hungry at these times now!)
What are you having for breakfast and lunch?

AutumnNymph · 18/03/2025 06:21

It's not you that's hungry for dinner OP, it's the kui. The poor thing must be tired ans starving.

Ps kui also wants chocolate and dessert as snacks.

Fatloss · 18/03/2025 06:31

Thank you for this thread it’s just what I needed. I often feel hungry again quite soon after a Chinese meal. What was the hunt like? 🤣

real answer - yes maybe a banana and are you drinking enough?

Footle · 18/03/2025 06:48

Be glad the kui didn’t eat you. Or your knephew.

Hobbitfeet32 · 18/03/2025 06:48

Try adding some celery with the kui. That should make you feel stuffed.

mindutopia · 18/03/2025 06:58

I think it’s quite normal for blood sugar drop mid afternoon. In the first few hours after waking, you probably don’t need much energy and you have been resting all night. But 8 hours after waking, you’re tired, kui or no kui. Energy levels are not just about food intake and calories. 5:30/6pm is an early dinner. It sounds like you need to have a snack in the afternoon.

I eat dinner late and have to eat something between lunch and dinner as too long between meals makes me grumpy and my energy lapse
