Eight months in and the Reform UK Parliamentary party is disintegrating. Lowe has now had the whip removed.

Farage is going after Lowe because he's questioning how things are being run within the Reform party. Lowe has stated he's not been allowed to attend meetings and has been sidelined on decision making.

IdaGlossop · 07/03/2025 19:41

Support for Reform seems to be levelling off. This fiasco, which somehow feels inevitable, won't boost membership. Those who paid the £25 membership fee are now looking at their cash being pushed in the direction of a KC.

I didn't know that. Interesting.

Lowe is getting a huge amount of SM support, whereas most Reform supporters seem furious with Farage. The consensus seems to be that the accusations are trumped up to oust the too-popular Lowe from Reform.

Other parties are still going after having serving MPs arrested and some even convicted of sexual assault. They didn't remove the whip for allegations or proof of bullying or sexual harassment either.

IMO removing the whip for this is a positive thing for Reform. Respect to them for doing it.

Still find most of them abhorrent but can't see why this would be bad for them.

Because they've done it - quite suspiciously - a day after he came out and publicly slated Farage.

PandoraSox · 07/03/2025 19:45

What happened to the prospect of Musk funding Reform? That may be very dead in the water as he is a fan of Lowe.

Well I'm not a Reform supporter but surely you're making mountains out of molehills here!

One guy gets booted out for bullying 2 women and threats of violence directed at 1 man - quite rightly if the accusations are true - yet you are somehow inflating it to a Reform collapse and all being at each others throats!

I don't follow your logic here.

I think you are missing the point. The Parliamentary party is beginning to turn on each other. I reckon Farage feels threatened by Lowe's mystifying popularity.

If the party collapses due to infighting, then that's the end of Reform.

Have you seen the Tory infighting? They haven't gone anywhere

Read the previous posts. This is infighting.

He and Musk recently fell out (Farage, that is). Musk said he should resign as he doesn't have what it takes. This was round about the end of the year I think.

He's hugely popular though - by far their most popular MP.

Did you not notice what happened last July? Plus they are not a fledgling party with only 5, sorry 4, MPs!

We can but hope. They are the short cut to ending up a vassal state of Russia, like the USA.

Lowe has the support from Multi- billionaire Musk. Farage gets very jealous. Calls it in (even though he doesn't give a shit about safeguarding and safety in work places) and gets what he thinks is a win.

When it's actually a loss because of own goals.

Chuchoter · 07/03/2025 19:56

Rupert is a lovely man. He has categorically denied any wrongdoing.

The Green Party are constantly in-fighting with each other, but they don't seem to have collapsed. I guess for your prediction about Reform, only time will tell but I don't think you are right, and you can't deny they are gaining ground across a range of demographics.

I find the whole UKIP, Brexit party/reform party etc interesting.

They really resonate with the disenfranchised and wheel them in.

Then they just go that leeeetle bit too far and turns out people aren't as racist and/or racist as the party thinks they are.

I think it'll be the beginning of a new party to replace the end of another FR one 😂

SpottedDonkey · 07/03/2025 20:11

I’m only surprised that it had taken so long for Reform to start tearing themselves apart. That’s what happened to UKIP, so infighting was always to be expected.

Reform is the Farage show, in exactly the same way as the US Republican Party is now the Trump Show. The first rule of any Farage political project is ‘Thou shalt not criticise the Divine Leader’.

In some ways it’s a shame, because Farage has successfully occupied a clear gap in the British political market, for a party to the right of the Tories which is actually serious about cutting taxes & tackling immigration.

There's been a rash of recent by elections within local government and Reform hasn't won any. @OolongTeaDrinker

They clearly have been winning some by-election seats:

The upshot is that Lowe is now an Independent MP and unless he's suspended from Parliament, highly unlikely at the moment, then Reform has just washed their dirty linen in public. No surprise.

Garage is an angel compared to trim and look how they flock and whoop for trump

sadly no where near the end

I don't see reform followers caring about women being assaulted at work. They should know their place after all.

Hasn’t the MP been kicked out for those alleged incidents? Which would mean Reform finding that behaviour completely unacceptable wouldn’t it?

Echobelly · 07/03/2025 20:22

Sadly I think they'll weather the storm, they've got money and media behind them

spuddy4 · 07/03/2025 20:29

Every party has had infighting at some point. I don't know if Labour supporters would be happy about the demise of Reform because right now they are splitting the votes with the Tories, if they disappear the Tories would gain back votes.
