To be kind of annoyed that DP is using planes, trains and automobiles to get to Manchester for the UEFA cup final when he hasn't even got a ticket and will have to watch it on a big screen?? Can you imagine if we all decided to bugger off for two days midweek? I know it's a one-off, once in a lifetime blah blah blah event but can he not just watch it on a big screen nearer home????????
I'm such a nagging wife!

A friend and I were due to go out on Wednesday for a rare girl's night out. We'd arranged it before Rangers booked their place but now she can't go because her dh is going out - presumably to see it on some pub's big screen or something.

MintChocAddict · 11/05/2008 23:18

I think I will Aimsmum. With all the sunny weather around, I think I sense a wee beer garden day/night with the girlies. Having said that, DH (called him DP earlier) will use my day out as an excuse to request his next one!! See I'm nagging again - just can't stop myself .
I like him really .

Well you're obviously not going to stop him going, so you may as well accept it with a good grace, but make sure you get an equal amount of time (and money if relevant) to go out yourself sometime!

MintChocAddict · 11/05/2008 23:36

United European Football Association??? - maybe? cup final.
Scottish teams VERY rarely have any success in European competitions although Celtic reached a final a few years back. Rangers have got to the final for the first time in 30 something years, resuling is lots of hysterical men (and some women) - don't want to be sexist!, marching on Manchester this week.
So yes, yet another cup final (yawnnnnnn)

Good grace - what's that then?

It's not nagging and making a big fuss about it, because he's going to go anyway and the only hting htat will happen is that you will get upset by it.
It takes about 2lb of chocolate. Good stuff.

CombustibleLemon · 11/05/2008 23:54

Union of European Football Associations

soopermum1 · 12/05/2008 09:44

YANBU, he should be supporting celtic

Alderney · 12/05/2008 10:41

Organise something for yourself in a few weeks time as payback.

My DH arranged to go to Germany to watch the football a few months ago - again once in a lifetime, 3 nights away with his mates..

So this weekend I'm heading off to spend the weekend with my friends...

The atmosphere will be very good, and it will be a once in a lifetime thing - even if they qualify again it won't always be somewhere as accessible and as cheap to get to as Manchester

So let him go, but do make sure there is some payback for you

ReachOutAndTeuch · 12/05/2008 10:56

Wait!!! You mean you are getting him out of the house??!!

Well, mine has invited a gang round to have bbq and watch at ours .

Quite an extravaganza by his accounts ...see my thread on 'build-up music'

Oh, for the peace!!!

scottishmummy · 12/05/2008 14:24

LOL a bunch of excitable footy fans sat on your sofa raiding the fridge, squawking and oooohhhhing for 90min. nice

KatieScarlett2833 · 12/05/2008 16:24

My DH has cancelled his football coaching, taken a half day and has arranged for GP's to look after children on Wednesday. He's not even a Bluenose...

Oh, and the mates are coming round too. Joy.

Lucycat · 12/05/2008 16:31

Tell your dh MintChocAddict - that he's best to head to Picadilly 'Gardens' to watch it on the big screen as there won't be any at CoMs - or Exchange Square is a bit nicer, but further from Picadilly.

we are bracing ourselves for Wednesday night here - I just hope they are nice to our 'footy' ground! (I use the use football in the loosest terms after yesterday's debacle)

mumblymoo · 12/05/2008 22:14

My dh is going and has spent a small fortune on tickets :-( and he went to the semi's - in Glasgow and Italy while I was at home with three dc's. I'll be glad when its over and he stops going on about it!

FromGirders · 12/05/2008 22:15

then it's only three months until the qualifiers for the world cup start!
sigh . . .

MintChocAddict · 12/05/2008 22:17

I think he's heading to Picadilly to watch it, but thanks for the local info. Hopefully he'll remember it!!
Oh and ladies thanks for all your 'getting even' suggestions. Today I organised two girly lunches and just about to plan a night of cocktails for a couple of weeks time.
I've decided to stick my feet up, eat my considerable body weight in chocolate and watch the game on Wednesday night. If you can't beat 'em join 'em!
Feeling very sorry for ReachOutAndTeuch and KatieScarlett. I thought I had problems .

I've got one spa weekend booked already. Shame I couldn't have timed it so that it was during the world cup and he wouldn't have a chance of seeing it for running round after our three
