Probably best to wait until a mainstream news channel reports anything like this, as they are likely to fact check before broadcasting it. Hard to know these days what is fake and what's not otherwise.

Either way, it does highlight a major concern though...I wonder how much of our current cyber security is dependent on the US?

They are doing as much as they can for Putin before the midterms. By then the damage will almost irreparable. Hesgeth has removed multiple Generals to neuter the US army.

Does anyone know why Trump favours Putin so much?

The theories I have read are -

1. Putin has Trump's sex videos.
2. Trump has been recruited by the KGB for this day - many many years ago.
3. Putin has promised business deals to Trumps family/businesses.

I don't know if we will ever know the truth.

Thinking about it, it could be all three.

1 isn’t enough of a hold - considering Trump has been found guilty of all sorts in court and lots of details of his life are out there on record, a sex tape would be a week’s wonder and then everyone would forget about it.

He was bought by Russia when he went bankrupt, lots of "investors" buying property in Trump buildings for millions above market value.

It seems clear he is a long term Russian asset who they have managed to install as president by means of a decades long cyber war.
The most terrifying part is many many people could see exactly what was happening from the start, called it out repeatedly and were silenced or shouted down by the "patriotic" right wing media machine.
The West / NATO and the whole post war world order has been destroyed in under a month in a bloodless coup. It's amazing really.

I think Trump just doesn't see anything wrong with the way Putin controls Russia. I think he actually thinks it's something to aspire to and he wants to control American and Americans in pretty much the same way.

I think its more to so with money/ Trump being recruited by Russians a long time ago (which is really believable as he is a shit businessman but likes to pretend he is not, so buying him to help him keep up the charade would totally be possible).

I was always cynical about this, but over the last couple of weeks I've become more open to the possibility. It seems incomprehensible that a Russian asset has actually been installed as President in the White House, but how else can Trump's behaviour be explained? He appears to be doing everything he can to smooth the way for Putin to get whatever he wants.

There's been reports about this over the last days from reliable sources. We are unfortunately also at the stage where they will deny it if asked...

This too, Trump admires what he considers "strong" and tough leaders like all of those we would consider despicable.

In the run up to his first election, he was asked about being skint and how he was dealing with it. He said that he just had to ask his Russian friends. He had Russian banks and media companies in his New York properties.

They may also have other material on him, but I can't claim any knowledge of that.

At the very least, he's in hock to them for a fortune.

I think the more likely scenario is that Putin got interested in Trump a few years ago, saw an opportunity to actually effectively wiggle his way to the top of US politics via Trump, and was able to feed Trump's ego and tap into his desire for money and wealth enough to completely get him believing everything he says. Putin is extremely intelligent and he's laughing now!

I haven't decided if Trump is an evil genius or a thick puppet. I prefer to think the latter because the former is far too frightening.

Worryingly, people had similar thoughts about Hitler (comedic thick puppet or evil genius) and many preferred to believe the comedy puppet than face the evil genius and that didn't end too well.

It's been all over the BBC, Washington post, new York times .. definitely being reported by mainstream media ...

Putin is extremely intelligent and he's laughing now!

Is he though? My MiL is now 87, from a former Soviet Republic and she says that he only got to be an Lt Colonel in the KGB by his connections. If he was really clever, he'd have been a properly senior officer.

She says he has low animal cunning and I think the same of Trump.

When Putin got in, she said, "Do you know what he is? KGB. Russia is finished." It is, in a way, because it has a paranoid dictator.
