The theories I have read are -

Putin has Trump's sex videos.
Trump has been recruited by the KGB for this day - many many years ago.
Putin has promised business deals to Trumps family/businesses.

I don't know if we will ever know the truth.

If he had something like sex videos on a Trump, God forbid, then surely Trump would just not stand for presidency?

I have absolutely no proof but I would not be surprised that Trump’s presidency was bought with Russian money and with Russian voter interference. Hence Trump will do anything for Putin as he owes him, big time.

They are preparing for Russia to interfere in Ukrainian elections so they can have a Putin puppet in place of Zelensky, and they don't want a digital footprint that can be seen by US cybersecurity experts.

They are also expecting the world to go to shit and China to invade Taiwan, which is why they've just announced a big Taiwanese semiconductor company starting a $100 bn operation in the US, so that the US can safeguard the manufacturing of vital computer components once the war starts in Taiwan.

Same, I also think Israel was involved (separately).

I've always found it suspect that it went from months and months of "no one can predict it, it's so close" to "landslide" in a few hours.

The news I am seeing says the US is stepping back on offensive cyber operations against Russia. That would seem to suggest they are still doing other kinds of operations like intelligence gathering and cyber security.

Probably still not a good thing but not the same as inviting them in.
