Can’t stop cutting hair- now too short

Looking for advice please. When I’m stressed or wanting change I cut my hair. It’s gone from down my back and a bit messy to an extremely short bob. I started by cutting it to my shoulders which looked great, but obsessively kept “trimming” as it looked uneven and now it’s by my chin and does not look good at all.
any ideas how to salvage this please / tips for disguising a bad bob? How long to grow out?? I’m so frustrated with myself.

Get it professionally cut - trust me, hairdressers have seen it all, especially after lockdown when everyone was cutting their own hair. They are also used to women with anxiety around hair and if you explain, your hairdresser can come up with a plan with you as to how to grow it back in a good shape.

Get some nice wide headscarves and some fancy earrings, a nice colour eyeliner.
Lots of women do a cool funky thing where they wear a scarf like these and then twist their short hair into little pigtails. It's a bit quirky but cute.

Maybe some wide headband

Sounds like a Body Focussed Repetitive Disorder (BFRD). I put out my hair, is worse when stressed/tired/hormonal. I have had some success with taking NAC (N-acetylcysteine) supplement, might be worth looking at.

Look on Amazon for wide hairbands

Or you could get some extensions put in but you might find them irritating so clip in ones could work.

I did this once. I had fairly long hair and just got the idea that I could give myself a sort of Meg Ryan-ish layered crop, and the idea wouldn't go away till I did it.

Of course it was a disaster. I rammed a beanie on my head and got the bus into town to find a hairdresser to fix it. Yes it was embarrassing walking in, taking the hat off and saying, "Can you fix this?" But she was lovely and she DID fix it, it looked really cute after she was done.
