Panicking about pizza

Imissbeingme · 28/01/2025 18:23

I’m panicking.

went shopping before and when I was putting the food in the fridge I got distracted and accidentally chucked a new mini pizza out instead of the one dated the 25th Jan. I’ve just made the kids tea and my 4yo has eaten the out of date pizza. I’m petrified that he’s going to be ill.
do you think he will be ok? It was cheese and tomato??

Be fine

ExtraOnions · 28/01/2025 18:24

3 days past, no meat, stored in the fridge .. prob be fine

Tiswa · 28/01/2025 18:25

Absolutely fine - meatless pizza are often best before rather than use by either way it will be fine

RazzzzzzzzzlllllllleDaaazzzzllle · 28/01/2025 18:25

I'm 99.99% sure he'll be fine

Worrieaboutthebarbedwire · 28/01/2025 18:26

What a waste! Both would've been fine.

OkayLetMeKnowHowItGoes · 28/01/2025 18:26

Absolutely fine. They are always overly cautious with dates.

JackieGoodman · 28/01/2025 18:27

Will be fine, chicken or prawns, no. Cheese and Tomato pizza no problem.

Huckyfell · 28/01/2025 18:27

If I had done that to my kid I'd have a glass of brandy just to cover all possibilities.
The kid will be fine. They eat worse stuff you never know about.

Factchecking7 · 28/01/2025 18:28

Panicking, petrified, I thought something important had happened. Its a ready made pizza, probably packed full of preservatives

Cara707 · 28/01/2025 18:28

Yes, I have severe OCD with a germ obsession and I still think that should be okay! They usually put 'eat within 3 days' on grated cheese packets but I bet most people eat it after the three days!

amaiseing · 28/01/2025 18:28

Can’t anyone just be kind? Clearly OP has a bit of anxiety over this. OP it will be fine as there was no meat. Absolute worst case he has an upset tummy for a few hours but I am sure it will be ok, logically it is cheese, tomato and bread. X

MyProudHare · 28/01/2025 18:29

Another vote for 'it's fine'.

Everyone has been kind!

Imissbeingme · 28/01/2025 18:30

Thank you all so much.

I do have severe anxiety which I’m having therapy for but anything like this sets me off. If I’d have eaten it I wouldn’t bat an eyelid but with it being my child I worry

Right. OP besides the complete over exaggerated language for an almost non issue a simple google would have told you it’s fine.

Be a little worried or concerned but panicked and petrified are hyperbole and extreme for this situation.

Would it help you to know that yesterday I opened and used a tub of extra thick cream I found in the fridge which went out of date on the 26th December?

heyhopotato · 28/01/2025 18:45

Nothing wrong with it. I had a cheese pasta ready meal today that was use by 10 days ago.

ERthree · 28/01/2025 18:47

YABU because surely to god you are a grown adult that knows a friggin cheese & tomato pizza that is only 3 days past it's sell by date won't make you ill.

Everyone has been. Your post is the only weird one.

If it makes you feel better. When I was a kid. My parents went out leaving me home alone. Parents were frugal on food because we didn't have much money. I went straight to the fridge and pulled out a bag of cheap grated mozzarella (probably the same stuff that's on the mini pizzas). I dipped my hand in and took a mouthful...only noticing thr bad taste after I ate it. I looked into the bag and it was green.
I ended up fine, apart from feeling disgusted and a lesson learned.

squirrelinajar · 28/01/2025 18:55

Glad you are getting help and doing something about it, because panicking is way beyond normal and really not good for your child.

Moonshine5 · 28/01/2025 18:56

Unless you bought a fresh pizza I can't see how it could go out of date that quickly.

And it was fine, right?

It was perfectly fine. It will be thrown out by end of play today, but so far so good.

ShinyWorthKeeping · 28/01/2025 18:59

When an old friend of mine was 3 she stuck a straw in a bucket and drank a mouthful of tadpoles - disgusting but she was absolutely fine! Your son will be fine, no need to worry!
