To think I could be addicted to cheese?

I know, very random but I crave cheddar cheese all the time and can eat a slice and then go back for another.
I eat relatively healthy meals but I do spend a lot of time fancying cheese.
Is this something anyone else can relate to.
I am definitely not pregnant.

No, I can’t relate. But someone did earlier last year, and they actually posted in the right forum as well:

it's not impossible.
but a recommendation, especially if you ever also crave things like mushrooms or dark leafy greens, could you have low vitamin D?

I LOVE cheese. absolutely love it. all different kinds.
but I used to CRAVE it. since my vitamin D levels have been sorted out, I still love it, but I don't get that desperate craving. it's just something I enjoy.

Yes it's not outside the realms of possibility that you're addicted to cheese, seeing as addictions can take all shapes and sizes, people can be addicted to going to the gym, to work, to alcohol, to chocolate, to buying cats, it's not always about the hard drugs.

I think cheese has something in it (casein) that releases opiate like chemicals in the brain

I am a fellow 🧀 addict - you are not alone

If you think you are actually addicted, have you considered deficiency testing? Sometimes your lacking in something the body needs (& it knows it can get it from the cheese!)

Yatzydog · 27/01/2025 21:44

Yep...totally addicted to cheese as well!

Zippidydoodah · 27/01/2025 21:45

Addicted to cheese 🙋🏻‍♀️

StupidBitchy · 27/01/2025 21:48

Cheese contains casein which turns into casomorphin in the body which is addictive. It's what keep the calf drinking their mum's milk.

vitamin D in my case. when I looked it up, cheese was one of the recommended foods, as were lots of other things I particularly enjoy
