To deliberately plan a really boring weekend

Itsnowjanuarythethousandth · 17/01/2025 18:46

This weekend

It’s freezing, we’re tired. I’ve done the big shop today, lots of slow cooker foods and curry planned. We’ve got lots of wood for the fire, I may just stay in pjs all weekend and only leave to walk the dog in the woods nearby.
Dd has made a den that’s taking up half the house and her neighbour pals will be in and out most of the weekend
Anyone love a very lazy weekend or would you be bored?

Weekend plans for a cold January weekend?

OP posts:
Marylou2 · 17/01/2025 18:48

Sounds like the perfect weekend. I'll go to Yoga tomorrow morning but apart from that mine will be very similar.

Echobelly · 17/01/2025 18:48

I have a quiet one planned. I am in the middle of a horrendously complex work project that I'm not getting the technical support I need on, and next weekend will be busier so I'm carving out the mental space.

Have booked a massage at place round the corner on Sunday because I've earned it.

Titasaducksarse · 17/01/2025 18:50

Most weekends my day revolves around walking the dog and reading. I've never considered it boring!

JellyFlooding · 17/01/2025 18:51

Sounds lovely. Older DC have only started school this year and it's knackering them so every weekend we have at least one cosy day in.

Mummadeze · 17/01/2025 18:58

I wish. Have just started feeling coldy but have to go to a 50th birthday party with an overnight stay tomorrow. Am exhausted and would like to hibernate in an ideal world,

Leicestershiremum · 17/01/2025 19:00

Not unreasonable at all. My son asked if we were doing anything this weekend and I said, 'enjoying the mortgage'. Nothing like quality time in your own space with your immediate family.

7ft1garysson · 17/01/2025 19:01

Sounds perfect. I’m gonna do the same

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 17/01/2025 19:02

Sounds lovely OP - I always think this time of year it's natural for us to hibernate a bit.
I plan on doing feck all this weekend!

IsawwhatIsaw · 17/01/2025 19:03

Given the freezing weather, it sounds great.
really relaxing

ShadowsOfTheDays · 17/01/2025 19:05

It sounds theoretically lovely but I know I'd have itchy feet by lunchtime tomorrow. I get claustrophobic very very quickly.

RawBloomers · 17/01/2025 20:52

I have a crazy weekend planned taking my teens on a city break that we’re going to love! But your plans sound wonderful too.

Bit of everything makes for a good life in my book.

OTannenbaumOTannenbaum · 17/01/2025 20:58

We have a birthday party tomorrow morning but then it's a quiet one for us.

CrowsInMyGarden · 17/01/2025 21:02

Oh that sounds wonderful and if you do get bored you can still find lots of things to do without leaving the house. Reading, TV, talking to your family, calling a friend, pampering oh and scrolling through Mumsnet too I guess!

AlpacaMittens · 17/01/2025 21:06

Sounds like the perfect weekend. I'll be rewatching Mad Men on Netflix in my house clothes (non-bed worn pyjamas) all day, cat on my lap purring 💙

HereComesEverybody · 17/01/2025 21:07

We're doing exactly the same!
Our dc is a young adult now so will have their own plans but I got shopping in on the way home from work so we have nice food all weekend.

The oil got topped up yesterday & dh got logs for the fire.

I have a stack of books & I'm planning a wonderfully lazy, restful 2 days!

I think Friday night is my absolute favourite with the weekend stretching out in front of us....

We've just had a delicious dinner & i can feel myself relaxing now

@Leicestershiremum

😂😂😂

I know right. I pay enough in rent - I'd like to enjoy my home and get my money's worth. 😂

NotGottaClue · 17/01/2025 21:10

I want a lazy weekend. But some family need some help moving furniture from bedroom and taking to tip.
Dcs want to go to a park 30 min away.
2 of the dcs need a hair cut
Need to get a couple of bits in Sainsbury's.

We had a lazy one last weekend. I loved it.

HereComesEverybody · 17/01/2025 21:11

@ShadowsOfTheDays do you not enjoy being at home?

I love to travel & we have a lovely circle of friends & we're v sociable. But we also love being at home & just shutting everything else out. I need a balance of crazy busy on the road weekends & others where we have a v slow pace.

Greyish2025 · 17/01/2025 21:17

Sounds lovely

Tortielady · 17/01/2025 21:29

We'll go up to town in the morning for coffee and a PhD study session at a cafe. DH needs a light bulb for his reading lamp and we need to replenish our supply of fresh fruit. Home for lunch, reading, naps etc. . .you can't beat a boring weekend.

SmellLikeStreepForCheap · 17/01/2025 21:29

I make a point of having a lazy weekend as frequently as possible.

Have a really busy and taxing job with long hours, and the workload this week in particular has been overwhelming. Have a few things to do tomorrow morning, but will be home by 2pm and then the plan is to not change out of loungewear until Monday morning.

Whoknew24 · 17/01/2025 21:31

Sounds bliss !

badwife23 · 17/01/2025 21:34

We have been ill. Thankfully on the up now but still planning a similar weekend. I will have to go out at some point or I'll go mad but it'll only be a short walk. Otherwise we plan to draw, read, keep warm, maybe do a yoga workout, have a takeaway and watch gladiators.

Mindedmy · 17/01/2025 21:49

I am wfh and at the moment, I relish getting out of the house at weekends. However DH and kids will
be opposite (out all week and can’t wait to laze around at home). Will compromise with a short trip out each day.
I think it depends on how busy you are and how much time you spend at home during the week.

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 17/01/2025 21:55

Park run for me tomorrow, then hot bath and reading my book afterwards. That will be all l do all weekend!
