Sainsburys cancelled click and collect

Honestly complete nightmare!

I am so done this!

So for Jan thought let's get organised and do meal planning and online account etc.

Sign up to Sainsburys online and the cherrypick app which lets you meal plan.

This is all going great!

Try to pay and No won't go through!
After hours of setting up this app and shopping etc the payment won't go through!

Keep trying again, trying again. Saying a problem with their payment system.

Then have to call up. Finally speak to a woman and pay over the phone. Takes two minutes.

Then this morning partner tries to pick up shopping. The shopping has been picked and is there but the man won't release as it's been flagged as fraudulent.

I'm sorry what?!

What the fuck is fraudulent about a £100 shop that you have already taken payment for!? How can that be fraud

Literally can't do anything. Hours of my life wasted. No shopping. Just bullshit

So done!

Tell me your best online shops please. Never giving them another penny.

I used to manage a delivery warehouse and the fraudulent orders always shocked me! Most of them proved accurate but we got the odd very angry customer who'd be genuine and something weird would have flagged. I always felt so bad but the fraud team never shared details!

Are you sure you've been charged? Sainsbury's normally does a card check when you order and takes payment the day of the order after picking. Hopefully it flagged before they took payment!

Hoover2025 · 14/01/2025 09:14

Honestly don’t understand it!

Yes the payment is there as pending. My bank hasn’t called so no issues there as they are shit hot on anything.

The shopping has been sitting there picked! Why on earth is this unresolveable. Such a waste of everyone’s time and the food!

Apparently that’s it now! My whole account frozen. Order cancelled. Not even going to hear anything for 72 hours.

Surely if there’s a problem with payment why can’t my partner pay on alternative card to purchase the bloody shopping there. But I don’t think there is!

How else can food shopping be fraud.

Arghhhhhhhh honestly so fucking angry

It's ridiculous. I can't even add my bank card to their app so won't use them. No problem with Tesco...

Maggieb90 · 14/01/2025 09:22

I've had numerous problems with Sainsbury's Chop Chop service, majority of orders haven't arrived for hours, on two occasions didnt arrive at all, one arrived while I was out! Have stopped using it.

I just went on cherrypick app and selected Tesco instead. Now I won’t let me shop my custom meals saying only available at Sainsbury’s.

So all this time saving is not actually possible. I’m fuming as not only do I not have my shopping. I also can’t use this meal planning system anymore and I was so chuffed I had found a quick way to organise the shop.

Fucking arghhhh!

I can do it if I manually add all the items. What a ballache. Plus side is may as well use Ocado tbh.

Nomoreitsnothappening · 14/01/2025 09:45

You need to try the different options in your area (as its very area specific). When I did this Tesco were great, Asda ok (but I didn't like there time slots), morrisons and Sainsbury's were not great (late, bizarre subs, missing items). Been with Tesco years. If you shop regularly you can easily find all your regular foods in favourites which makes it quicker.

Not really no. Im 8 months pregnant, have morning sickness still. Plus hangover from this awful flu.

Spent half a day yesterday trying to streamline my life for when babe arrives.

Tick - Start to meal plan
Tick - Find an app which is great and does all the ingredient input for you
Tick - Have a full order on Sainsbury’s to check out
Everything’s great! Super chuffed with my Jan planning

Until we get to Sainsbury’s. Utter fuck up from start to finish. In the end have to call to make payment manually over phone.

They then tell me its ready!

My partner goes down and takes half an hour standing outside click and collect like a lemon. Are they taking the piss?! Why put the order through and say it’s ready.

And now I still need to go shopping! And they have taken the payment as pending.

So no I am not overreacting. They are wasting everyone’s fucking time.

Ocado are the most reliable by far.

Serencwtch · 14/01/2025 09:51

Absolutely disgusting! Supermarkets should not be trying to prevent fraudulent transactions & protect their customers. Shame on you sainsburys.

OP have you considered how you would feel if you lost £100 to fraud & sainsburys could have prevented it but didn't to avoid 'inconvenience'

A) Thats my banks job
B) They could have declined payment if it was a problem for some reason.
C) They could have informed me it was cancelled rather than sending me to collect it.
D) They could have offered a solution such as partner paying in person for shopping whilst this account issue was resolved.

So yes they are shit!

And I feel the only person being defrauded right now is either Me or Cherrypick app. Its certainly not Sainsbury’s!

Just do gousto, will be much easier with baby here too and simpler to order.

I'd be furious too, it's wasted a significant amount of the OP and her partner's time and it's a big food waste, all because "computer says no". I'm infuriated just reading it!

@Hoover2025 we use Ocado with no problems at all. Very rare that we get subsituted items or unavailable items.

Hoover2025 · 14/01/2025 10:23

Thank you!

Omg great news! My partner just turned up! Him and the click and collect man have used their initiative. They loaded the shopping into a trolley and my partner was able to pay at the till.

I have my shopping!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
And the food will not be binned.

Apparently now just need to make sure I don’t get double charged. So will wait to see if that’s the case.

Now to lower my blood pressure 😂

Yes, absolutely changed my world moving to Ocado. Rarely have a sub and quality is great plus they price match with Tesco so you can get a discount voucher if Tesco would be cheaper.

JanuaryCrow · 14/01/2025 10:24

Fuck me, when did MN turn into a mass defense of major supermarket chain cock-ups? I ended up hiding the one about deliveries to disabled customers because it was so predominantly anti-customer in a tone that dripped unnecessary condescension.

The OP here has been perfectly eloquent about why she is pissed off, and I would be in her shoes as well.

Best wishes with your pregnancy and planning, @Hoover2025 Flowers

JanuaryCrow · 14/01/2025 10:26

Good news about the shopping Smile assuming, as you say, they don't double charge you, OP.

Cool. 👌 unfortunately fraud checks do need to be in place, my mums been the victim of fraud from her card being cloned and the bank were rather useless. I’d rather someone have a small inconvenience than more people be victims.

Sainsbury’s is the worst, I really hate Sainsbury’s (not least because of the manky colour scheme).

Tescos are, in my experience, very good. If there is ever a problem, you can phone up the lovely customer service line where you always get a kind Scottish person who sorts it out. Any time I’ve had a missing item or late order, they’ve immediately sorted it.

once my shopping didn’t arrive, so called up and the van had been in an accident. They sent me coupons as an apology.

They also been very helpful when my mum had to go to A&E and they rescheduled and kept her order, along with being so lovely in the phone.

also delivery saver is £7 per month and you can order as many times as you like.

canipetthatdawggg · 14/01/2025 11:45

I've never had a problem paying with Sainsbury's, but I only use their app or website. Wonder if they see a higher level of fraud through cherrypick or something.

Scaredandalonepls · 14/01/2025 09:36

No, OP is 8 months pregnant, has morning sickness, and getting over a flu, she thought it was all sorted and now it’s not, there’s no shopping, her time has been wasted, she’s been stressed out by something that was supposed to be simple and make life easier.
I can see this being a pain in the arse at the best of times, let alone late pregnancy and feeling rotten.
Sod Sainsbury’s.
