Double ear piercing - fine at 13?

Our youngest wants to get second piercings in her lobes. She's paying for it herself and she knows from the first lot what the aftercare involves. It's at a very reputable piercing establishment which uses needles not guns.

My mum says it's grossly irresponsible to let a 13yr old double pierce her ears. I'm of the opinion that it's not such a big deal, many have them, they can close up if she changes her mind.

AIBU to be so casual about second ear piercings?

Those who are saying "she can always take them out ".... yes she can but it is more expensive to get them done by needle at a tattoo/piercer as they use titanium .
My DD had some dine recently - lobe and helix , they were about £90 a piece.

Much much safer than a gun though .

It’s fine, it’s just ear piercings. Ear “stacks” have been popular for a while now.

More to the point, teens with multiple ear piercings has been pretty commonplace for well over 20 years!

Longer, I got my 1st 2nd piercing in 1989 at 14, almost got another whole in my head when my parents found out, got a big slap for it as they had said no. It didn’t stop me saving up to have my other year done a couple of months later. Mine was done on a stall in the market.

My 12yo has been asking. We’ve said no for now, only because her school is strict and don’t allow any earrings at all. We’ve said we will rethink in time for the summer holidays.

I don't particularly like them but I wouldn't have an issue as it's not my ears. As long as you're satisfied she can manage the after care.

I would however check school policy on what she can wear there though and I would try and get her to hang on til summer holidays for healing time.

I wouldn't have an issue but probably save it for the summer holidays as some high schools have rules about earrings

Yeah we get frequent reminders round about piercings. One in each lobe so it would be a faff taking the other earrings in and out.

We’re not crowd followers in our house so her friends having it done doesn’t make an ounce of difference.
I didn’t let my daughter have a second piercing because it looks and is, in my judgmental opinion, tacky.

Other options are available.

My argument was if you have all these things now at a young age, what do you have to look forward to?

Nipple piercings

We're a state school in Scotland so second lobe piercings are the least of their worries, in terms of rules. They don't even really have a proper uniform.
