Name to go with Seren.

Our daughter is called Seren (pronounced like seven but with an R) and we are due a baby boy next May.
Me and my partner can't agree on a name yet. He likes Rowan, I like Kit and the only one we have found a mutual ground on is Renley.

Seren and Renley.
I like that both have the 'ren'

Thoughts?

Has anyone got a Seren with siblings and if so what are their names?

How about Remi?

Whoarethoseguys · 29/12/2024 14:23

I think Kit and Rowan are both lovely. As is Remi.
I haven't heard the name Renley before and can't say I am keen on it. But if that it the only name you both like then you should use it.

How about another Welsh name to match, like Rhys?

bridgetreilly · 29/12/2024 14:24

Nova.

Ruan? Meaning ruddy and also references Rowan berries.

Personally, I find Seren-and-Renley doesn’t roll easily off the tongue. How about looking at names that mean ‘star’ to go with Seren- Aster, for example, or a specific star name like Sirius?

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 29/12/2024 14:34

I like Renley, but too game of thrones for me. I think Aled goes really well with Seren

I have to say I'm not sure why people put so much weight on if names go together. Kids are their own people and outside of the first few years of their life most people they know will never even know their siblings names nevermind care if they 'go together' or not.

NoKnit · 29/12/2024 14:46

What about Ellis or (Welsh spelling) Elis

MrsCarson · 29/12/2024 14:56

StrawberryDream24 · 29/12/2024 15:04

I wouldn't call.two kids in the same family names with the same principle sound (ren).

It's a big matchy matchy, or something.

If you prefer Welsh names, I'd just choose a Welsh name you like. Pity Rhys is not an option.

Rowan is nice.

Mulledjuice · 29/12/2024 15:05

Never heard Renley before -if you like it maybe you'll like Harvey?

Or Rhodri? Rhydian?

TaranFollt · 29/12/2024 15:09

I'm Welsh and so the name Seren is very familiar to me.
I like the names Osian and Rhun. Osian is frequently abbreviated to Osh or Oshi in our area. Rhun is pronounced similar to Rhys apart from the last letter.
However, I may be suggesting names that are difficult to pronounce unless you're a Welsh speaker.

Midwintermayhem · 29/12/2024 15:13

I know siblings, Dylan and Seren

EScarlett · 29/12/2024 15:30

We aren't Welsh or have any connection with Wales (other than family holidays which we love there) Seren was a name we love that just happens to be Welsh so boys name doesn't have to have the affiliation.

I like names that compliment each other and being a teacher it's a real struggle with names. Here in Surrey, we are yet to come across another Seren and she is 4 now.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far 😊

Never heard of Renley before. If I heard it, I might assume it was Wrenley (or Wren - Leigh) and a girls name (sorry).

Seren and
Ellis
Rupert
Milo
Thomas
David
Bryn

VickyEadieofThigh · 29/12/2024 15:38

Remi is a lovely name.
