I can’t believe they persist with this bollocks. Do people still queue before dawn for their poor quality goods?

The quality has gone downhill and most of the designers need to be fired.

Yoyokitten · 26/12/2024 21:50

I reckon people do queue up before dawn.
Barmy.
I think they try to create a sense of urgency about the whole thing.
I would rather stay in bed 😀

Mamabear999 · 26/12/2024 21:50

Anyone who queues for the next sale at 6am in the morning needs urgent help 🤣🤣
I worked in it for one Christmas and the Boxing Day sale starting at 6am was just a joke. Put me off shopping there for the rest of my life.

alibongo5 · 26/12/2024 21:52

Never understood it. The Next sale is full of rubbish that they couldn't sell at full price for a reason. And you can't try it on so have to take it home, try it on and then take it off when it inevitably is awful. And no I don't still go, and never got up early to go - but maybe that's why I never found anything decent.

RedRiverShore5 · 26/12/2024 21:53

I always get an online slot and buy the branded things, they don't have those in the shops. I wouldn't go to the shop one. I got a lot of stuff.

purpleblue2 · 26/12/2024 21:54

I don’t queue and my 3 year old was consistently next up until this year. What has happened to their brand! It’s awful.!

LittleMissLateForWorkAgain · 26/12/2024 21:59

Oddly enough dd 30 and I were just talking about this as she worked there as a college student age 17.

We were remembering boxing day sale 13 years ago when she worked there and had to get there before 6. That was me stuck driving her there ( 8 miles away) as no buses and there was a queue of people sitting on the ground in the cold when we arrived.

Nothing nice in their sake then for her age 17 or me age 43.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 26/12/2024 22:00

I know someone who did this when her kids were small. No idea if she still does.

in2twentyfivewegothen · 26/12/2024 22:01

I bought various items for family this Christmas all from next.. all items had a little sticker on the price covering the original price. Mark ups from £2-6 pounds disgusting! I'll never shop there again.

Hurdlin · 26/12/2024 22:03

Next stores haven't been open at all near me today (Glasgow). I presumed they'd given up on the in store sale nationally and gone online only.

RedRiverShore5 · 26/12/2024 22:05

I spent loads, got Levi's, a Seasalt coat, FitFlop boots and lot of other stuff, I did get some Next brand pyjamas and towels.

It's online only today and I store from 6am tomorrow which is a bit of good news for staff. It's good to see more retailers closed today. Hopefully hospitality will follow suit.

Happiestwhen · 26/12/2024 22:06

*in - store

I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than go to NEXT at 6am. Or any time for that matter. Overrated and overpriced. That's NEXT!

It’s the queueing before dawn aspect I was commenting on.

I ordered my stuff on Sunday 22nd

Wittow · 26/12/2024 22:09

Just crackers. I could not be arsed.

Bournetilly · 26/12/2024 22:12

I went once, years ago when I was pregnant with DC1. I get a vip sale slot now so thankfully don’t need to go, I probably would if the sale wasn’t online as most of DCs clothes are from next.

RedRiverShore5 · 26/12/2024 22:13

I doubt that people queue up nowadays for sales, I think the shop opens early but I doubt there is a queue

goingtotown · 26/12/2024 22:13

I wouldn't queue at 6am if Next were giving stock away. It's mostly rubbish quality.

Hurdlin · 26/12/2024 22:14

Pottedpalm · 26/12/2024 22:05

Ah right. Still batshit to que any day at 6am! But at least staff got today off. I hope they pay well in overtime.

RedRiverShore5 · 26/12/2024 22:16

If people didn't expect to buy such cheap clothes it wouldn't be such poor quality, this is a problem with a lot of the High Street

Physioterrorist · 26/12/2024 22:17

I worked at a smallish Next store for about 4-5 year when I was 19. You had to work both Christmas Eve after closing time to prep the store and Boxing Day for the actual sale or you would receive a disciplinary. I remember arriving for my Boxing Day shifts at around 5.30am and there was always a ridiculous queue, people would just bag armfuls of the rails without even looking at what they were picking up Blush
