I’m thinking of joining the social media platform Bluesky - but it seems so tame - everyone’s so polite to each other - hence the thread title -

“we may as well have tea with our maiden aunts”

it’s got a nice upbeat name and a nice, user friendly interface - but everyone on it seems like they’re in some kind of Jane Austin novel with everyone being v v polite etc ..

Any opinions on Bluesky?

People I enjoyed on Twitter have now gone to Bluesky. I can’t be bothered to join.

As to your question, no idea - bar this place and rarely these days Facebook, I view all social media with deep suspicion. If it's all very polite now, someone will probably sort that out pretty soon....

I've no idea about bluesky but I wouldn't bank on the politeness of maiden aunts indicating tameness.

Haha to be fair it does seem ‘nice’ enough - it’s got a nice positive name .. and it seems very very user friendly .. not clunky at all. Got a really nice, straightforward interface.

A lot of people seem to be posting Xmas related pics etc so it’s nice and positive enough .. to be fair

Maybe the ‘polite’ seeming language covered darker intentions ..

The usual crowd of beggars, scroungers and general twats who have seen their X income stream dry up are already making their way over.

Twitter (X) is a cess pit, but BlueSky isn't a viable alternative (imo).

I thought the volume of child abuse videos had skyrocketed since Trump wom the election with all the 'lefties' leaving X because they are upset about it. I know correlation is not causation but all I've seen are people saying how many death threats they are getting over there.
