I am friends with someone of viking descent, and she told me that her ancestors were friends with dragons, just like How To Train Your Dragon! I find that really cool that dragons might not be that imaginary.

Could dragons exist in the millions of years the earth existed and left no fossils/trace - yes possibly. During the very short period of human existence when we have had sophisticated weapons - no.
The evangelical movement has tried to dismiss dinosaur bones as dragon bones to disprove evolution.
Why people make this shit up when there are so many incredibly animals that do exist and are becoming extinct I do not know.

very true

hehe - also love your username, especially if it's in reference to James Thurber.

Beware the Dirigible Dragon... no naked flames please (I mean, if we're supposing such dragons were floating around rather randomly at a time when all was lit fires, candles, flaming torches and what-not... they really would be something to avoid no matter what the dimensions!)

If methane-filled dragons had ever existed, I'm sure the myths would have included them exploding!
As it is, only the best writers about dragons mention this characteristic.Grin

Yes they hide up in the mountains here in Wales and occasionally have been seen flying over Cardiff castle on Saint David's day. Rumour has it they only understand Welsh and their favourite food is Welsh rarebit followed by a Welsh cake. You can spot a Welsh dragon easily because it's red like on our flag.

I expect they would eat Lava bread.

Based on some of the people that exist in here I don’t see why dragons existing is anymore fanciful.

You mean it’s easier to believe in dragons than in people who are so outraged by an unexpected ring at their doorbell?

Couldn’t have put it any better!

There's that video floating about of a man saying the T rex was a dragon. Compares the skeleton with that of an ostrich and the arms/wings look the same

The famously flightless ostrich.

Reckon people wanted to make it look like dragons were intentionally breathing fire at them... nasty vicious dragons, bad dragons..

Rather than people admitting that the poor innocent dragons would simply fly too close to someones fire and go pop (or bang, size depending) scaring the kiddiewinks ... sweet innocent and unfortunate dragons!

Remember it's the survivors who write the history books...

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 21/11/2024 23:15

DS says they are real but they are actually really really tiny, and not big like in the stories, so that's how they avoid being seen. He's five so pretty reliable about these things.

WiddlinDiddlin · 22/11/2024 03:50

That is also a solid theory.

Throughout history people have embellished and exaggerated the size of the fish they caught, the lions, bears, tigers, dragons they fought, the bulls, pigs and horses they owned...

No one fighting a dragon is going to come home and let anyone know that the dragon was teeny weeny are they!

Of course there are dragons. All Welsh people know that! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

These are very different to Chinese Dragons- City of London Dragons are more akin to Welsh Dragons. Perhaps distantly related?
